What a great episode and very touching, thank you so much! In all the 32 years that I've been living in the Netherlands as a black man, born in Africa, I have fortunately hardly ever experienced direct racism. My family is mixed, my circle of friends is mixed. But I can empathize with the statement of one of your guests saying; "they like your culture but they don't like you people". My fellow DJ friend (a white guy) used to play good old American soul stuff every Friday in a pub in the city of Utrecht. The nights became very well attended. Also by many local black people. However, one evening the manager asked my friend to play something else with a comment; "the music is good but we shouldn't have so many of those kinds of people in here".

It's because whites spend more money on drinks and food. and as long it's mix whites wil also enter but if it is to Manny black people, white people won't enter anymore, because of 85% chance violence will happen. And that's not beeing racist of saying that, it's fackts. Even myself, I won't enter. You might have a good time.. But the risks are to high. Check violence on the carnavals, and sertain clubs. It's stabbing, shootings, robbery, beatings. So it's sad but the truth. The first two lady, s dont go out clubbing has to tell you enough.

@@GinoXXLEntertainmentat the end I understood what you were saying. The statement your friend made wasn't about individual Dutch people but rather the system, the government at large. They use the culture for their benefit to make them look "good, diverse & mixed" but in reality it's just a tactic to make them look inclusive & acceptive but black individuals on the ground are not reaping the rewards & experiencing this so called "fair inclusivity" the government portrays to give to all people when showing off black culture. They use your culture to benefit them, rather than reward you for your cultural benefit.
@GinoxxlSam

@@Sir.T You hit it right on the nails head. You get it! Thank you for making it even much clearer. That's exactly the hypocrisy we are dealing with in this country. Also it's a FACT and it's nothing new to ALL that the most/individual Dutch people and the rest of the non Afro people enjoy our culture as a whole and nothing wrong with that but you can't hate the owner if you are enjoying his contribution either for economic reasons or aesthetic purposes. It's nice that we get this opportunity, thanks to brother @ACE that through his platform we are able to expose this hypocrisy. Big up yourself

Wow that interview with Gino was absolutely phenomenal! I am Dutch, 23yo, studying here in Netherlands and I'm telling you if Gino went into politics I'd vote on him in a heartbeat. Our current government is actively working to make the lives of anyone but old white people and wealthy farmers progressively more difficult and when the Bleach Queen Geertje Wilders' cabinet inevitably falls in a couple months, we're going to need intelligent - and forgive the terminology - 'woke' populist communicators in our politics to counteract the PVV, BBB, FvD brand of fear-mongering, else we risk losing that Dutch innovative spirit he was talking about in favour of hatred and fear.

@@GinoxxlSamhey, I thought you were great!!! You seem very intelligent and well-informed and I really liked your insights on the current state of our country and the issues at play. I lived in Riekerhaven (with other students from all different cultures/backgrounds) and now work with a group of immigrants/ statushouders (im a social worker) to support learning the language and organise administration and stuf and I definitely agree our current policies with regards to immigration, as well as the governments' treatment of immigrants (especially non-western) is in DIRE NEED of an overhaul, as it's an abysmal, bureaucratic, embarrassing mess. It's ridiculous the hoops you have to jump through to be fully accepted as a citizen and too many Dutch people haven't got the faintest idea about that. Such a shame, because meeting new people and learning about their interests, perspective, their origin story/culture -ineracting with that- is what makes this country vibrant and keeps life interesting! I'm sorry your experience in that regard was so frustrating and shitty. I also really enjoyed the parts of Amsterdam you shared with ace, you're a good tourguide haha! Not trying to be an asskisser or be creepy, but If you are ever bored; i am relatively new to Amsterdam (I'm from Groningen) and would love to talk about music, history/politics/philosophy or just general life stuff with you, hit me up :) promise I'm a good time 🌞🌞

1:06:22 i totally understand what he means. He isn't saying that literally all dutch people only like immigrant culture and not immigrants. He is talking about the systemic design and attitude of our government, that likes to benefit from the contributions of immigrant culture but is at the same time trying to stop migration (or they say so at least to win voters). He isn't talking about interpersonal dymamics, instead he is saying that the netherlands as a national institution works this way. His example of him organizing a made in africa festival that is sponsored by the government is very telling. The government sponsors this for the benefit of the community (seemingly) and their own image and diversity points, and then they want to deport the very people that make up that community... makes no sense.

But let's be honest. His designs are not that unique across Ghana people do what he's doing for much cheaper. Not everyone has disposable cash to spend on everything. Brands like gucci have built themselves to be a prestige brand he's selling what's avaliable for much cheaper in the west. Of course just westerners will appreciate it more we see it all the time at local shops in Europe and the originals in Ghana.
@andrehyacinthediouf6138
@andrehyacinthediouf6138 Ай бұрын
Let's be honest indeed. I personally don't think it's about whether this designer has an unique talent or not. It's a matter of taste. But it's a fact that his creations are more expensive to make in the Netherlands than in Ghana. The standard of living between these two countries is not comparable. So, it's your choice, it's your wallet. But let us not belittle our hardworking fellow human beings with stories like; "I'm from your country, so I have the right to set the price". That's not fair. Don't you think so as well? The rest of your text, dear. I don't really get what you want to say, my apologies for that. Brands like Gucci hardly sell anything in Africa. It's all fake made in China down there. What I would like to say to all the fashion boys with their fake bags, caps etc.; "Go support your local dealer!"

The Ghanaian designer's name is Asbon @AsbonFashion . His store/shop is very easy to locate. Find it at Amsterdamse poort right opposite to the Primera shop. A few minutes walk (away) from the Bijlmer/Arena train station. I was with him today at his shop, so he is informed and ready to welcome all new customers/visitors.

Great content man, and I love how you show the real thing, not misrepresenting us black folks living here. Also the dialogue with Gino was very good. I like the fact that you pushed back on some of the things that were said. I missed some accountability on certain parts but I do believe his experience is true for the most part. Also one of the things that everybody hates and I mean everybody doesn't matter the race) is the paperwork in this country. So I agree with Gino on that a 100% but there is a part that you play in it as well. But I wish the brother well. Hope you do more cities in the future.

The one person I know from Suriname was my doctor (ob/gyn) Dr. Narain😊 He delivered my 2 daughters. Excellent doctor! Him and his wife(nurse at his practice ) treated me like family; bringing me food, showing me pictures from back home, etc. I was very sad and low-key mad😅 when he told me he was going back to Suriname. So I agree with that statement 👍🏽
