Volume 3 is where you start hearing a difference between Jim and Mick, specifically Jim really starts developing his own style. For the most part, Mick is more metal-y and heavy and Jim is much more melodic and moodier and that's just totally their sound now. It was super ballsy to put this album out right after Iowa, too. Definitely don't sleep on Prelude 3.0.

I believe the songs about Corey feeling pressured to be pissed off and angry just to be able to write songs anymore and him feeling trapped by the record label because he didn't feel that way anymore which in turn led him to massively lash out because he was feeling tossed aside

I was waiting for this one. Definitely makes my top 3, and you can see why. The 'noodly' guitar sections are by Mick. There's a video somewhere on YT where where both Mick and Jim are doing a playthrough of the intro, if you wanna watch that at some point. I'd recommend reacting the live version from Download 2009, if you enjoyed the song, you will definitely enjoy this version. I also knew you'd love reacting to this, since you mentioned you used to be in a marching band, and the sole reason why it was suggested. Great video as always :)

You should really check out StoneSour, this is Corey and Jim’s other band and a completely different side of them.

This is the album that got me into Slipknot. So good. Pretty sure this is the first record they noodled on, too. You can usually tell them apart. Jim typically plays on his neck pickup with a ton of legato. So I checked and verified that these noodles are Mick's.

So it would seem to me that Vol. 3 and We Are Not Your Kind are your favorites haha Okay this is how I quantify it •Self titled was raw unfiltered anger in all directions. •Iowa took that anger, focused in and dialed it up. •Vol. 3 was when they started more artistically expressing themselves and following with what they found fulfilling. •All Hope Is Gone came at the bands breaking point, they were starting to implode and in their words "went through the motions and phoned it in" with a very commercial streamlined album that was just checking boxes. Then Paul died. Paul Gray was a wake up call that really put things into perspective for everyone and shook everyone out if it. •.5 the Gray Chapter was them processing their emotions and saying goodbye to their brother, it was a true throwback to the self titled sound and attitude, but with a slicker production. •And then finally came We Are Not Your Kind, the band was firing at cylinders again, and now that grief and their own egos weren't in the way, went back to that artistic vision they were expressing back with Vol. 3. I forget who said it, Jim Corey or Clown, but they said We Are Not Your Kind slips perfectly inbetween Iowa and Vol. 3, and I couldn't have said it better.

This all makes a lot of sense to me. BUT Snuff is on AHIG! The greatest thing they will ever do. LOL
@jeffpattonmagic49143 жыл бұрын
@@MusicCatsandCoffee To be clear, majority of the members say AHIG is their least favourite, (except for Snuff), Clown saying something to the effect of "It's too efficient, there's no pain no struggle, that's not good for what we do." And I agree to an extent, AHIG is the least "personal" of all the albums lyrically, you'll feel that when you start doing AHIG deepcuts. but PERSONALLY it's my second favourite record of theirs. Every album is a vibe and I happen to vibe hard with AHIG. It's easy listening for me, I can throw it on no matter the mood and have a good time. Most of the maggots would crucify me for my ranking of the albums tbh

Well... you're not wrong at all regarding their different eras - each one of their albums represent different stages in their life... and one can really appreciate how they matured across the decades. They definitely have a unique sound that is totally theirs... but they managed to remain original and rather impactful on the mainstream metal scene.

I love this song and the music video, especially since to my knowledge it didn't get edited, but granted this album featured little to no explicit lyrics. Here's also what I learned about this song. It's about how everything that they have said in their songs does exist and is part of the band's inner workings. Kind of like... I guess you could call it a song on how complacent (not caring at all) people are can be sometimes, and that as much as he tries to show himself..he still is called the same thing (chemical burns and the animalistic, I'm just another hardline psuedo-statistic...i'm just another blank face, pushing-button pull the rage)

I told you it was good. That song is their most underrated song ever! The song is absolutely amazing in all senses, it's perfect. That's why I say it's their most underrated song of all times. I'm happy that you also loved it like me, ok, maybe not like me. Haha. So I feel like this is a major tension point between maggots. Some hate that they change their sound between albums, and some love that they don’t repeat themselves or have the same vibe album to album. The only album I consider to be heavily commercial is All Hope Is Gone. It doesn’t make it bad, it just is what it is. That’s also why there was a lot of tension within the band while recording it. I’ve mentioned this before but you might have better luck with your blocked videos if you re-upload them with a watermark over the original source video. That usually helps videos get unblocked.
@MusicCatsandCoffee3 жыл бұрын
I must admit, I don't know how to do the watermark thing but that's a good idea.

@@MusicCatsandCoffee See if this works it’s the only free one I could find. There may be better paid video editors that let you add a custom watermark but I don’t like the idea of advertising for a paid program. www.kapwing.com/tools/watermark-video If that doesn’t work, whatever you already use to edit your videos may have a way to add text or an image of some kind over your source video.
