Hey guys! Reading your comments regarding my explanation of personality disorders & I want to apologise for how totally wrong I was!! This is a case of unfortunate misunderstanding on my end & I’ll try to educate myself further on topics of mental illness and disorders before I try to explain them again in future videos. Thank you to everyone that’s corrected me & educated me in the comments, you guys are always so kind & I appreciate you putting me right. That being said, I hope you enjoyed this video! ❤️

thank you, I also want to add that personality disorders have a lot of mental health issues that are symptoms of the disorder, so it is still seen as a mental health issue. and as others have said, it cannot be cured because a PD is when your brain is physically different to "normal" brains where a mental illness is the chemical makeup of the brain; but you can treat it and help the patient live "normally" with a lower amount of symptoms

Right? I have a theory that if you send a serial killer a letter stating that "everyone knows you have a tiny weener, its on the front pages of the newspapers and that you're really just incredibly insecure." Or something along those lines, that would be the ultimate punishment for them, because they obv dont care about their victims families. They just care about their "mysterious" and "intreaguing" image.

I don't even think he cared about his Savannah Monitors. I think he just liked using them to inflict pain on animals. For instance, the fact he didn't have them in their tanks shows he didn't care if they were in the best environment for them. Since lizards are cold blooded they need to be in a heated space, and they need enrichment in their environments and UVB lighting so they don't get health issues. He didn't care about the lizards, he just wanted a "violent" pet edit: also feeding reptiles live is dangerous as the mice and rats can and will try to hurt the reptile since they're fighting for their life, so the fact he was doing that is even more telling

I have bpd combined with several other mental illnesses and adhd and I mostly just cry a lot and dont like overstimulation of my environment. So personality disorders definitely effect people in drastically different ways. It is an easy mistake for people to make unfortunately but I admire that you owned up to it and you can tell you’re not trying to be malicious. I have too many emotions honestly and am a huge empath so I feel a lot of other peoples pain and emotion as well.

My favorite abnormal psych text puts it best: “To understand is not to excuse; to empathize is not to forgive.” We can explain actions in terms of personality disorders without automatically meaning “and therefore this person isn’t accountable for their actions” and we can regard persons with personality disorders as human because they are and are deserving of that base level of empathy from us. They just aren’t entitled to automatic forgiveness or excusing from legal consequences of their actions.

I just wanna say that people with mental or personality disorders are not inherently dangerous and they are not as scary and horrible as the media makes them look. people with mental/personality disorders are normal human beings and are not more dangerous just because they have a disorder. It all depends on the person not the disorder. The disorder is not what makes them dangerous, its they themselves that make them dangerous. I just wanted to say that because mental illness is so stigmatized.

I was also terrified that my dad would just kill him & end up in prison so I convinced this crazy dude to enlist in the Navy & broke things off during a call from basic. I also reported him to the local military office as a potential violent threat which lead to him being put on watch. He's been in prison for years for non violent crimes but it all started after he threatened his training officer & because he was on a watch list & had been warned it lead to the first incident on his record. I do understand that I had the privilege of reporting him & ending the relationship when he was safely hundreds of miles away from me so I do not feel brave in any way, I just understand that feeling of helplessness & worry about what will happen if you say something. There are plenty of people who do report their abusers & they still are let free to go on committing violent crimes. The world we live in is absolutely terrifying isn't it.

As someone with a personality disorder (BPD) I find it very upsetting to hear you say they are not a mental illness and that they cannot be treated. Personality disorders are very much mental illnesses, however, there are 9 types of personality disorders which all have different symptoms and treatment will vary for each one. Yes, they cannot be cured but there are lots of medications and therapies that can help with the symptoms. Also not every personality disorder means you're a dangerous person, as I said there are 9 types all with VERY different symptoms. Love your videos but I felt very invalidated with my illness with consumes my life when you said they're not an illness x

What parents? They were divorced, he lived with his mom, who was often out partying and wasn't exactly present. I doubt his parents had a clue about what he was up to, since he only lived with his mom who was pretty wrapped up in herself and his father was abusive himself. He had parents but no actual parenting.

I always feel so bad with these cases where the victims have already really rough time before and are on the way to get better only to be murdered by some awful human scum.

2 years of intensive DBT and antidepressants have massively treated my borderline personality disorder I like to think I'm not even borderline anymore .... but i know i technically still am. I haven't had an episode in years. I think I process reality & emotions in a rather healthy way.

i was told to do DBT and i think this other one but idk what it’s called but i went and i got bad vibes from the lady and never went again. idk why i haven’t tried someone new or something but i haven’t. i’m pretty bad at the moment but i also take a mood stabilizer and that makes me way less angry all the time. i have borderline personality disorder.

Given the way Steven disposed of the bodies, his intelligence growing up and into adulthood, and how well thought out and premeditated these murders were, I came to an unsettling thought: Exactly how many Stevens are out there? How many do we not know of that have not been caught yet due to the same premeditation? Have they not been caught because they chose to be more careful than Steven? How many are out there right now, tying up lose ends so that there is no possible way of getting caught? This world we live in is both amazing and unsettling. May those victim's famailies find the peace they need
