In this video from Sarajevo, Bosnia, I discuss the Bosnian civil war, the most devastating conflict in Europe since the end of World War II, and one that happened within our lifetimes with vivid present day repercussions. I tried my best to go over the happenings in Yugoslavia that led to the dissolution of the state and to the crisis that affected Bosnia-Hercegovina worse than arguably any of the other member states, what happened in the war itself, the unbelievable atrocities that defined the tragedy, and the aftermath.

As a Bosniak I can tell you it was not a civil war where everyone killed everyone like you say, but it was a planned aggression by Serbia with all Yugoslav army equipment, soldiers and officers. It was performed against newly UN recognised country and unarmed civilians with intent of a genocide and ethnic cleansing of Bosniaks and annexation of Bosnia to Serbia. UN at the same time imposed arms embargo that did not allow Bosniaks to arm themselves to counter balance the overwhelming Serbian arms dominance. However, the Bosniaks made up the difference with their heroic brave fighters that endured the worst possible conditions with no food and weapons and still managed to defeat the genocidal Serbian army. And not only did Bosniaks endured all that but they also protected all the churches in Sarajevo during the war and had representatives of all ethnicities in the government unlike the other sides that destroyed all the mosques that thy could.

I think KZbin algorithm automatically subscribe me to this channel due his insatiable eye candy looks and intellect. I wonder what it's like to meet him in person. Gosh, he's amazing. I, as a 53-year-old former Yugoslav, now a proud Bosnian resident of the city of Sarajevo from a mixed marriage of a Serb and a Muslim woman, who survived the horrors of the war in Sarajevo as a citizen and as a fighter, I can say that this is one of the most objective representations of the situation that was then. Especially for someone who is encountering it for the first time and trying to understand the seriousness of those events and the causes that led to it. Be convinced that today many of our neighbors neither can nor want to accept and understand the situation at that time as you understood it and described it here. Thank you.

Keep up like this! And one interesting fact, I still live in Sarajevo and after all Sarajevo has been through its still full of love and it will welcome everyone again. There was a lot of armies tried to conquer Bosnia and Herzegovina but non of them could achieve it.

The chances are your Serbian customers are outright denying genocide in Bosnia. You could ask them and see what they think. Not everyone from Yugoslavia was a victim, plenty of them were on the side of perpetrators of war crimes, either morally, financially, or quite literally the executioners.

Perhaps I was at your age when the war, ethnic cleansing and genoside was going on in Bosnia before the eye of so called civilized nations who were mere spectators. You should visit Jasenovac, learn about Balkan history before war in 90's (for example WWII) and you will have complete picture of war in 90's. I mentioned that because you should know why most of Serbs didn't want to separate from Yugoslavia (Serbia). We all agree about one thing: war is not good for anyone and bad people surface and then make crimes. But it not depends about nation. Not only Serbs made crimes. Learn about massacre in Bratunac in 1992-1993, exodus Serbs from Mostar, Tuzla... And check who actually murdered people in Markale market in Sarajevo. Medal always has another side. And of course I know that war crimes on Serb's side exist. But you should know that most of Serbs (more than 95% from my point of view) did not attack Bosniaks or Croats but were saving their motherland. I was born in Bosnia as Serb and have right to speak about this topic.

The Bosnian War[a] (Serbo-Croatian: Rat u Bosni i Hercegovini / Рат у Босни и Херцеговини) was an international armed conflict that took place in Bosnia and Herzegovina between 1992 and 1995. The war is commonly seen as having started on 6 April 1992, following a number of earlier violent incidents. The war ended on 14 December 1995 when the Dayton accords were signed. Horrified by those atrocities. In fact, such incidents are still ongoing in horrific manner. The Gaza strip is under blockade and siege for 15 years! Where is the end!

Bro, this video is fantastic and much informative but if it had been in Bangla, the bengali talking people would have been understood the whole things very easily.
