It was clearly not the ukrainians who were preparing the attack on Russia. crests should have understood that an attack on Russian cities would only strengthen Putin’s support before the elections, especially considering that all of Putin’s competitors openly declared that they would surrender the war. Therefore, either the attack was prepared by people who completely misunderstood the Russian way of thinking, or by outright amateurs, or the attack was needed for purposes that were far from the idea of harming the presidential elections in Russia.

Considering the total number of losses per day by the AFU, it is not surprising that the Russians do not go out of their way to gain unessential territory. Ukraine military strategy seems to be one of relentless attacks without gains. It's been unsurprising since Zelensky became a proven megalomaniac. Of interest will be to see whether Russian actions change materially following the elections in a few days. As matters stand, there are possibly at least 5 more oblasts that could willingly vote to follow the previous 4 into ascending to the Russian Federation. Others may show a distinct interest in returning to nations of their historical roots. This wouldn't leave much territory to call themselves Ukraine.

Leaked French report says Ukraine victory now impossible. Three new leaked French military reports about the war in Ukraine. Ukraine cannot win militarily after its losses in the fall of 2023. It also praises Russian forces as the new “tactical and technical” standard on how to run defense operations. Sending French troops to Ukraine would be “unreasonable”.
