Bluey isn't just a hit series on Disney Plus that won over the hearts of millions, it's also apparently the center of some cartoon controversy after a recent special episode, The Sign, generated some discourse on Twitter. On one side, people are mad the episode didn't have Bluey, Bingo, Chili and Bandit move out from their home as they think it might send a bad message to kids. On the other side, people are just mad that a wholesome kids show is getting praise and attention. Both of these seem pretty silly, so as someone who isn't super invested in Bluey, I wanna throw my two cents in!

@@mullerpotgieterI don't think the unfortunate stereotype of "animation is for kids" will ever truly leave the world. Dwindle, yes, but there's always gonna be that one person who's got that mindset, and despite people being upset that those people still think that way, and won't change their minds no matter how much people try to convince them that they're wrong, those people will still keep on loving animation [myself included] because they know better than those people.

Of all the shows to receive toxicity for stupid reasons, Bluey was not on my Bingo card (no pun intended btw)… and it’s messed up. First off, Vox is right, y’all need fucking hobbies if you’re giving grief to people watching these shows WITH THEIR KIDS! Secondly, do you understand the nostalgia people have to rewatch kids shows from the 2000s and 2010s?! PAW Patrol and MLP:FiM took the world over, kids and adults love them, and I don’t see them losing steam for a while. It’s drives me batshit crazy to find people trying to slander some of the most harmless things, especially most kids shows that are (A) not meant to be taken all that seriously and/or (B) have genuine care for the demographic and the parents interested…

My dog watches bluey and I love the show when I step in and listen to it. For a kids show it tackles some mature subjects and the characters even the kids seem so fleshed out and there’s this depth to them. Like for example the episode where Bluey’s aunt visited and she couldn’t have children so seeing Bluey and Bingo would hurt her heart because it reminds her of what could have been. So Mom and the girls try to cheer her up it was so heartwarming and felt authentic

Twitter needs to be shut down! Back on topic, I didn't see the episode's ending as a cop out. If people watched closely, they could see that Bandit (Bluey's dad) wasn't entirely on board with moving away either. He just kept trying to convince himself that his new job in the city would make things better for him and the family. But when he saw how upset that both the children AND his wife were about it all, Bandit went with his gut and decided to stay in their current home. I saw something near similar to this on Loud House; specifically Relative Chaos (which served as a backdoor pilot for the Casagrandes spinoff.) Maria Santiago, mother of Bobby and Ronnie Anne, brought them up to Great Lakes City for a what seemed like a weekend family reunion with Maria's extended family. But by the end of the visit, she drops the bomb and suggests they stay there, thus moving in to the city. To make a long story short, Maria didn't make this definite unless BOTH her kids were fully on board. Bobby loved the idea but Ronnie Anne was beyond distressed. It took the family clearing out the hall closet and making it Ronnie Anne's new room for her to understand just how much her family cared and wanted her to stay. In the end, she ultimately agreed with moving in. So, it's always best to make sure EVERY member of the family is on board with moving and if they're not; find a way to gingerly help them understand it will be okay

But slowly I was remembering the time I watches Dragon Tales when I was young and a lot of emotions comes to my mind, I feel lost but happy but uncomfortable, Bluey has the same feeling for me. One big theme of the episode you didn’t mention was the whole “we’ll see” thing through the farmer story and ultimately what happens to blueys family. It teaches kids how to deal with something wrong happening by showing them to look at the bigger picture. Constantly in the episode we see something bad happen, then something good, then something bad, ect. Ultimately it causes a chain reaction which allows the family to get their house back. It doesn’t teach kids that they’ll be able to prevent moving in their life, it teaches kids to not get discouraged when something bad happens because “we’ll see” what good things come out of it in the end. Wow that’s a perfect way to think about moving away isn’t it (:

You know, out of all kids shows that were made to entertain children and don't get much love, Bluey is the one beautiful masterpiece that got so much love and appreciation from kids and adults because of the many amazing things it was able to do that other kids shows couldn't. It's quite upsetting that there are some people out there who are being toxic to adults who love the show. Like those people need to get a hobby or just try watching the show to know why adults love it too. I'm glad you were able to make this video to not only talk about the beautiful ending to "The Sign," but also to spit facts out about the many people who judge adults who love the show and tell them to knock it off!

@frozenolafnick5813

The reason I’m solely mad about people dunking on Bluey is not just because they should let people live their lives and watch what they want. But rather, the media and Famous Actors, higher ups etc. are saying that animation should only be for kids. However, not only did animation start for all audiences, it hurts when someone you think would like a show, someone who would appreciate animation dunking on it as well. It’s a big slap to the face, and with the way things go with this type of stuff on Twitter and such, it’s no wonder why people in the industry are usually trying to play it safe at this point. And because of the complainers on Twitter, shows that would’ve seen the light of day, or gotten a good spin off, etc. have been cancelled, or worse. So yeah, to say I’m mad about this is an understatement.

I remember that Peppa Pig did a similar thing. In the episode “Suzy Moves Away”, Peppa and her best friend Suzy Sheep find out that Suzy’s mom was offered a new job, but in order to get it, she and Suzy have to move to the other side of the world, meaning Suzy would have to transfer to a new school and Peppa would never see her best friend again. By the ending, it was getting emotional when Peppa and Suzy bid heartfelt goodbyes to each other, even with Peppa giving her a drawing of the two of them together as well as her favorite toy crown. I could even hear in their voices that the two of them were about to cry. But then suddenly Suzy’s mom got a phone call informing her she didn’t get the job after all. Meaning that they don’t need to move after all and Peppa and Suzy don’t have to say goodbye forever. It seems like a pretty routine plot element at this point.

It sometimes teaches me how to parent when I eventually have kids of my own, but it reminds me of when I was a kid and me and my nephew would play around. I was older but I was more of a bingo than a Bluey. My nephew was the one who was Bluey. Also the heeler family reminds me of my own family, my dad is as silly as bandit and my mom was as kind as Chili is now. Bluey is great. I don't care if adults watch it. What I do care are the immature adults who throws a tantrum at a Target because her boyfriend said no more Bluey toys. She literally stomped her foot and screamed. I'm going to assume she was on a spectrum but the boyfriend looks super embarrassed when he saw me witness the meltdown. Then we also have Twitter who literally put sexual ideas into Bluey... yeah Rule 34: if it exists, there's porn of it but people are literally inserting sexual fantasizes into the episodes, destroying the actual message of the episode and the innocence of a kid's show. Not everyone should be watching kid's shows.

I don't fall into any of the categories for 'people who watch bluey' that were described- I just think its a soft, gentle little show with a lot of positivity, not just for kids. It was designed to be fun to watch for parents and their kids, so why is it weird that people who neither have nor even at times want kids would find the show nice to watch for completely non creepy reasons? The way they go through the sorts of emotions or how to express certain feelings, combating anxieties and such, on top of several episodes being genuinely beautiful with visuals and music, there's nothing weird about watching it.

@@kwayneboy1524 Sounds like you could use a little bluey time to heal insecurities about emotions. There is genuinely nothing wrong with crying for any reason, let alone various stories in a show. One of the episodes implies that Bluey's mother had a miscairrage prior to her successful kids- That kind of thing a child won't pick up on but a parent will, and I know for sure some parents have had a good, healthy cry about it. That's just one example out of many I could have picked from. I know the episode about dealing with separation anxiety was also a really strong one for many people. If you think it's wrong to cry about it, I think that says more about you and the conditions you were raised in than it does about others who allow themselves the freedom to feel things. It is always okay to cry. I'm sorry that you feel otherwise, perhaps taking some time to consider why you think that way could help you. I mean that genuinely, not as a dig.
