Why wouldn't BMW instead, of adding all the electronics and radar crap put a reverse gear into the GS's? The ride heigh is 790/810mm -895/915mm (depending on seat and suspension options). The comfort option you mentioned is not the low seat. The normal adaptive heigh control, lowers the bike on stop with 30 mm. The comfort adaptive height control has another 20 mm of fixed lowering. The lower seat height option gives you another 20 mm. You also have an option under the seat to lower it more, or change the angle of the seat. When you add all of these you get a minimum of 790 mm. This is 10 mm lower than a normal 1300 GS... Also the price in Romania for a full option is even higher than 27k. Mine is 29.588 EUR...

The main issue for me these days relates to security, 20-40 years ago you could park your bike anywhere and it would be there on return even parked overnight on the streets. Insurance is incredible due to theft risk and cost of bikes, look at how security on cars has improved since 1970s. RT has had an electric screen since at least the mid 1990s and still the switchgear is not illuminated. I’d rather have a twin spark 1150 GSA with cruise control, less likely to be stolen, who needs all the electronics which will probably fail and with 1200s onwards you can not afford for the bike not to be covered by a warranty, although bmw are now changing drive shafts every K60km.

As a " serial GS owner" I can say I have no desire to have this or even the std version. I think they are just so ugly and a bit cheapo looking, putting aside the big prices. The new safety tech is very good but if you are relying on sensors to watch your blind spot and look out for being rear ended, maybe you should consider an advanced rider course... This technology and the auto transmission or clutchless shifting are making everyone quite lazy I think. I prefer to really "ride"the bike myself but its getting to be like you are just a passenger who is monitoring rather than being very active anymore... 🤔 I cant help but feel that biking is becoming very sterile with all the gadgetry now on offer. I rode one of my 20 year old bikes the other day and it felt great and really quite refreshing ( not even abs or cruise.... I actually had to think a bit more which is FUN )
