At 64 years of age...born into and still residing in the Catholic Church 12 years of Catholic school, 4 years of a Master's program in pastoral counseling at Loyola, how many books have I read on saints and our faith, how many Masses have I attended and homilies heard?! I have NEVER heard this before. It is a HOMILY OF HOPE, so powerful that if everyone could hear this, explained that our humanness will never disappear, only be perfected, who would not turn to Christ? I want to show this to everyone, especially those who are deeply suffering physically, fearing death, rather than seeing it as a "passing on". I am lifted up in spirit today to a new height! Thank you and may God continue to bless you in your ministry.

I agree and thanks for your testimony based on your history with Catholicism. At the same time I do wonder how accurate this is or if any discrepancy to what the Catholic Church teaches as far as us retaining our own bodies. Also the very fact you admit you NEVER heard this before. I've also had 6+ years of Catholic school and far as I under stood it, just as it says in the bible there won't be wife and husband so to speak we also will be more of a spirit than a body. What too of those people that really don't like their bodies or find fault even though they are mostly healthy and in decent shape?

Fr. Mike explains things like this really well. With all respect to you, both my husband and I knew this from elementary school Catechism. My husband is 6 years older than me and was taught the Baltimore Catechism. I am 62 and post-Vatican 2 and I specifically remember being taught this by the nuns when I was a kiddo. Fr. Mike has a true gift of explaining the mysteries of God in such a down to earth way that I think we can feel like we are hearing this for the first time. Like Kathleen said, I go to my parish Mass every week, and also listen to Fr. Mike's sermons, Bishop Barron, and Jeff Cavins' reflections. I get amazing and beautiful perspectives that deepen my faith. As Fr. Mike always says: WHAT A GIFT!

Thank you Father Mike. I am in this process to conversion and I usually loathe my body, I am a woman in my late 30s. I now know that it's the devil who wants me to hate it, he knows it's my weakness and knows how to play games in my mind. I am 100% sure that Jesus talked to me through you in this video to understand the importance of the flesh and soul and how I need to start loving my body and helping it to follow my number one and most beloved prototype: Jesus! I have to add this, my mother passed away in 1978 . This one night in 1985, I was in bed trying to fall asleep and suddenly I saw an image of my deceased mother floating above my bed dressed in a beautiful blue gown. She looked very young and was smiling. She said to me, ' l had to come and tell you how happy I'm here.' I noticed she had both legs, and I was surprised, because she was an amputee. And again she said I'm so happy and I had to come and tell you. And then she just floated away. That was the year 1985. She never came again, I know it was not a dream.

As a 73 year old lapsed Catholic, my interest got snagged first on Father Schmitz's tatoo video. His energetic speech delivery almost seemed frenetic. Then I spotted the Easter video and took a peak. Never have I heard a priest so buoyed up with belief ,enthusiasm and desire to spread the message as if there is not time enough in the world to reach everyone but die trying. Never when going to church have I ever had Christ's Resurrection explained in terms of our own body. May God grant Father Mike a long and fruitful life spreading the Gospel.

Hi Fr. Mike. Regarding the belief that many Christians have about being free of the body when they die, actually it's what we've been taught to believe as fact in church while growing up. The priests always said that when one dies, they will be free of their body, and their soul will either go to heaven or hell. I only learned the truth about this some 6 or 7 months ago. It's not entirely the Christians fault to have such a belief. Just wanted to point that out. Happy Easter and God bless.🙏🙏

Fantastic Sermon Father Mike! Thank you for what you in service to the Church and faith. However I do wonder about this part of the message pertaining to the body, our bodies specifically. What about those people who are naturally not the most attractive and would love a different body? What about those trans who feel trapped in their body and believe they are another gender? What if those truly do their best to make peace with their given body and gender in this life but also wish or look forward to a different body or different gender in the next? Trans are but one example but know more than a few people who would love to be more attractive, fit, and would look forward to our bodies not being an issue in the afterlife, basically being more spirit than anything else.

@@michaelmicek I'm more inclined to agree with K B's comment above where we will be less concerned about our looks and more about the love, peace, and joy with God in the afterlife.
@gotvegan4953 Жыл бұрын
@@M00nflowers Some do probably hate their body which you are right is more an earthly thought but what about those who just wish to be more attractive like a 10 vs. a 7? Yes, ideally everyone should love their body but there is no denying what Michael talked about above, our resurrected body will be flawless but will still be a 7 vs. a 10. For example, I'm a fairly good looking guy....eat right, take care of myself, muscled and athletic and I'm happy and fairly content with my attractiveness but there's no denying I'm no Thor or Brad Pitt. Thus in my idea, if my resurrected body was flawless and perfect it still wouldn't be as great as a flawless and perfect Brad Pitt lvl 10's his resurrected body. See what I mean? As such, I'm much more forgiving of the idea our existence in the afterlife will be more spiritual than physical.
@michaelmicek Жыл бұрын
@@gotvegan4953 well, I don't disagree with you really. But I actually think that Fr. Mike's description doesn't give the right impression; according to C. S. Lewis, if we saw a resurrected human being we would be tempted to fall down in worship (like it's described with angels). Furthermore, it's common to picture martyrs as they were martyred; St. Matthew carrying his skin and whatnot, and we talk about the "crown" of martyrdom; what was willingly suffered here for Christ will be seen as the ultimate treasure in Heaven (so strive to enter the narrow gate, while being satisfied with being a little flower). So I take a very expansive view of integrity and would emphasize clarity instead, but I don't want to disgust anyone, so I think that if someone wants to the use the metaphor that physically we'll all be "10s" in Heaven, that's fine.

There was an answer I heard recently, possibly here, even. Maybe more than one. What comes to mind is that a master when getting up from the table would leave the napkin on his plate if he were finished, but if he planned to return he would fold the napkin and set it aside to signal that intention to his servant.

They with ears to hear, let them hear: Through the Holy Spirit, God has put it on me to preach to those lost in the devil's deceit! Hear me when I say, ye that are Catholic have been deceived and know not God. Ye worship Mary, praying to her; when God tells his to worship none other than him. It is idolatry. Catholicism has its own Bible and teachings, which are blasphemous to the word of God: the Holy Bible. As ye follow the teachings of man and not God; ye hear the pope, but not Jesus, yet ye claim to be his disciples! These are but a few things I named ye dwell within; there are many more. I tell you now to repent of your sins, accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, and you'll receive the gift of the Holy Spirit upon asking the Father! There are *NO* sub-divisions of Christianity. You're either a disciple of Christ or not. A Christian is someone who follows God's word, not a religion. Who obey the Father and follow his will; not man's nor their own heart's. Unless you keep Jesus' commandments, think not the Holy Spirit will dwell within you! They who heed this message and did what was stated with an open heart to God... Read the Holy Bible (KJV) daily and every time before you read, pray to the Father and ask: "Lord I ask that you give me understanding of your word, that I interpret it the way you want me to, and none of my own. I ask you in Jesus' name, amen." Revelation 22:8-9 KJV 8 And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things. 9 Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God. Acts 2:38 KJV 38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Luke 11:13 KJV 13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? John 14:21-24 KJV 21 *He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.* 22 Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world? 23 Jesus answered and said unto him, *If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.* 24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and *the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.* 3 John 1:11 KJV 11 Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. *He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.* 1 John 3:6-10 KJV 6 *Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.* 7 Little children, let no man deceive you: *he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.* 8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. 9 *Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.* 10 *In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God,* neither he that loveth not his brother.

The Holy Catholic Church is *where* the Bible came from. The Evil One has deceived many with the lies you have believed and are using to accuse here. Beware: the Devil is the Accuser, and Pride goeth before the fall. Praying for unity among ALL Christians. May God be praised and glorified in all we do. May you be blessed abundantly in your search for the Truth. +AMDG+

Friend, perhaps you should reconsider your claims. Do you really know the history of Christianity and the modern Christian churches? The modern Christianity which you know claim is different? Catholicism was long before the modern Christian movement most recently portrayed in the recent film, the Jesus Revolution. Thus compare 2000+ years to roughly over 50 years. Also the KJV is but one of many modern translations while the Catholic bible has undergone translation updates over the years it remains the same and encapsulates all of the modern itinerations of the bible, like the King James Version plus includes the original 5 or 7 books which are not included in most Christian bible translations. Catholics don't worship Mary like you claim but rather see her as our intercessor for us with God. The Pope is the head of the church but Jesus is the King and the one we worship. Thus we are no different but thanks to the framework of the Catholic Church, with the Pope, bishops, and priests, we have teachings passed down as true and pure as can be since 2000+ years. You want the fullness of Christianity? Give the Catholic Church a chance and do so with an open heart and mind. Shalomn
