Would you ever do a video on the Boian skirmisher? I know it sounds cheesy but the imperium surrectum mod apparentely described them as one of the best skirmishers in the Celtic world, any kind of truth to this?

The guys over at imperium surrectum and Europa Barbarorum are usually pretty on point with their facts. Europa Barbarorum especially. Sometimes the names of the units can be a bit off but the general info is usually 80-90% accurate.

What is the evidence of the use of the Spolas by Celts? There are two -possible- effigies in southern France, but thats very close to Greek colonies, while the Boii are quite far off from that economic sphere.

The Boii were middlemen on the Amber Trade which connected the Baltic Sea to the Mediterranean through Illyria, one of Europes first trans-continental trade routes, couldn't it be possible that they simply acquired this stuff via this route? Weren't there Greek colonies in Illyria? Those guys were everywhere lol (This is simply an educated guess)

The Illyrians prevented nearly all Greek settlement north of Epirus, but you bring up a good point about the trade. I also found connections through the Balkans - the Boii (a portion of them anyway) were one of the tribes that went south in their great invasion of the third century BC. Leather spolas is certainly plausible. There is also a tale of an old Irish hero who used an armour made of leather and layers of linen - sounds familiar!

Yes!! They were two branches of the same tribe, when the Romans conquered Cisalpine Gaul, the Boi could have quite literally have packed their bags to live back in Bohemia alongside their cousins
