The Boneyard

One of my creepiest dives.
The "boneyard" is what is left after spider crab aggregation. The crabs shed their skeletons in order to grow a bigger one and then head back into deeper waters. They are normally loners.
The stingrays gather here also in hopes of catching vulnerable soft-boned spider crabs.
I rushed to Melbourne when I heard it was happening... I arrived about 1 day late.
The starfish that tried to trap the octopus inside the pipe.. I don't even know what to say.

They come there together to shed their shells. Presumably they do this together so they can get cover from the stingrays while their new shell is hardening.

Hey Páll! We met on the Uetliberg today and I just watched your video. I got goosebumps watching it because it's so creepy. But it looks absolutely amazing! I've never seen anything like this.
