A beautiful song from a tragic tale. On April 16th, 1746 an army of 7000 highlanders were defeated in the Battle of Culloden Moor. After this battle, many Scottish soldiers were imprisoned within England's Carlisle Castle, which was located near the border of Scotland. The song Loch Lomond tells the tragic love story of 2 Scottish soldiers, who were so imprisoned, figuratively and literally. They first met, and continued to meet on the banks of the Loch Lomond Lake in Scotland. After they were captured one of them was sentenced to be executed, while the other was to be set free. According to Celtic legend, if someone dies in a foreign land, whether it be by nature or by the hand of another, their spirit will travel back to their home land, using "the low road" also known as the route for the souls of the dead. So the two lovers spirits would eventually reunite in Scotland, their home land, by one taking "the high road" and the other taking "the low road", but though their bodies would never physically be together again in their special place, they promised each other before they were parted that their souls will always be one. This is just an interpretation.

Stunning arrangement- I’m guessing you’ve seen all the comments asking for the sheet, but I’m just going to echo that request anyway!

Where the sun shines on Loch Lomond. Where me and tea tree my true love spent many days On the banks of Loch Lomond. Too sad we parted in yon shady glen, On the steep sides of Ben Lomond. Where the broken heart knows no second spring, Resigned we must be while we're parting. You'll take the high road and I'll take the low road, And I'll be in Scotland afore you. Where me and my true love will never meet again, On the bonnie, bonnie banks of Loch Lomond. Ho, ho mo leannan Ho mo leannan bhoidheach Ho mo leannan bhoidheach Ho mo leannan bhoidheach Ho mo leannan bhoidheach Ho mo leannan bhoidheach Ho mo leannan bhoidheach Ho mo leannan bhoidheach Ho mo leannan bhoidheach You'll take the high road and I'll take the low road, And I'll be in Scotland afore ye. Where me and my true love will never meet again, On the bonnie, bonnie banks of Loch Lomond. You'll take the high road and I'll take the low road, And I'll be in Scotland afore you. Where me and my true love will never meet again, On the bonnie, bonnie banks of Loch Lomond. You'll take the high road and I'll take the low road, And I'll be in Scotland afore you. Where me and my true love will never meet again, On the bonnie bonnie banks of Loch Lomond. You'll take the high road and I'll take the low road, And I'll be in Scotland afore you. Where me and my true love will never meet again, On the bonnie bonnie banks of Loch Lomond. On bonnie, bonnie banks On bonnie, bonnie banks On bonnie, bonnie banks On bonnie, bonnie banks On bonnie, bonnie banks On bonnie, bonnie banks On bonnie, bonnie banks On bonnie, bonnie banks On bonnie, bonnie banks Hey,
