I enjoyed this movie. Anything that’s not afraid to tackle the taboo, like that opening, I’m hooked! It had a lot of the standard horror tropes but I still found it very creepy at times and I watched this in theaters, I was the only one in the audience and I think that also played into scaring me a bit but I had fun!

I haven't watched this one yet, but I can see why people compared it to several other movies. There are similar motifs but people forget this is based off of a short story of his from the 80s, so it's no wonder there have been stories like it in the 30 years since he wrote it. I'll have to check it out when I get the chance. For all those that want to help Chance defeat the YT algortihm: Don't FF thru any of it, like, comment and respond to some if you have time, subscribe if you haven't, and share if you can. He's a fun guy that actually interacts with his audience and tries his best to take requests in stride. And if you like what you see, then you can become a Patron or a member. He does watchalongs and playalongs sometimes with Texas Chainsaw Massacre and is an all around cool creator.

18:08 Lmfao “let the darkness take her” is some shade if I ever heard it 😆 Also, the last half of this was pretty underwhelming. Felt like a cool build-up in tension, and then it dropped off as more and more of the creature was shown. Especially from when the little sister was thrown and with the trap at the woman’s house, and after. Seeing its full body just took away almost all of the creep factor

😂 she had to go. Also yeah maybe they shouldn’t have shown the creature so much toward the end

I found the movie Ok, i would not watch it again bur that is because it had very little to do with the Short story from Stephen King, The moment That the character Lester Billings Showed up i was hoping that the he story went the way of King's story. The acting of the 2 daughters was very good and i agree the movie would be better if they killed of the Natalie Character, oh well maybe in the Sequel she get's it.😊😊😊

I don't know the short story, but I wouldn't wanna watch it again either. There have been other recent horror movies that left a bigger impression on me like Barbarian or Censor. But if I had to watch a Stephen King adaptation, it's Gerald's Game, any day, baby!! 😅 Or Doctor Sleep. But Gerald's Game was a MASTERPIECE. And I don't use that word often....

There's a couple of things to complain here and I could list a few thoughts, I had while watching it for the first time myself: A) what even IS the monster? We never know. And some people say, that's scarier and I can see that. I just would have preferred a LITTLE more explanations. Like some theories where it may have come from. Why it's afraid of the dark, etc. If there are NO rules (like in this movie), I just can't be scared that much. Because anything could happen. B) The monster takes like 2 seconds to kill the baby in the beginning but like a minute to kill the main girl at the end, because plot armor... 😅 That's basically my main complaints, I can think of right now. It's not much, but you can avoid these with just some better writing. The acting all in all was fine and the look of the movie was quite good. And the music especially was pretty good. 👍

Ok, got a third one: C) The tooth. How ON EARTH did that get stuck down her throat without her noticing? 🤔😅 And why did it come up again when she smoke the joint? I know, it's gross and unsettling, but it also made ZERO sense... 🤭
@slimemoistdude69 Жыл бұрын
@@chanceneck8072 Oh for one: this creature is a celestial being in my opinion capable of un-logical things. No explanation needed its just uncomprehend-able. Two: In her dream the monster shoved its hand down her throat probably putting the tooth in their. Since the monster is fear related it probably was able to transfer the tooth into her throat from her nightmare. Also the creature isn't supposed to be realistic IT SUCKS SOULS, it's obviously existed forever as stated so it may be a element of the universe itself. And it was killed easily because it likes to toy with its food like they said, but it might have toyed to hard and not expected her to have that strength. And her mom obviously helped her from the spiritual plane. The creature may very well be an element of the universe and let them kill it, because to put it simply "It feeds off weakness" so when the kids grew strong and faced it, it let them lived and moved on and let them believe it died. And it obviously is still alive due to it calling Sadie in the end of the movie but she closes the closet meaning she isn't scared anymore so the creature is no longer after her while being alive. I cannot believe how picky people are with movies because I thought it was entirely amazing if you give it the cognitive filling of the gaps it needs which some of you obviously didn't, good movies don't give you all the answers or even near it.
