A Better View of Apocalypse ...
It seems everyone is fascinated by the Apocalypse: The Book of Revelation. But literalistic interpretations are a dime a dozen of how the events of Revelation are supposedly going to play out (or have played out historically) on a linear timeline. Is it possible that all the major camps have been reading Revelation completely wrong? What if doom and gloom Dispensationalists, as well as the more positive end-time eschatology views of Preterists are actually all approaching the scriptures from a wrong method altogether?
This week, John Crowder cautions us to avoid all the end time “-isms” that dogmatically assert their theories of how the final days play out. Perhaps there is a more mystical approach to this book, wherein we are actually confronted with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

I had a gentleman come in to my shop to cut his hair one time and at the time I was reading the book of revelation, he said to me unprovoked, " have you considered the book of revelation is something that goes on inside of us rather than outside?" Two more years after I had a dream in which I met Jesus face to face and He looked like the description in Revelation , His eyes were flames literally, all I did was hug him like a five year old. The love that came out of Him was such an incredible experience, I still cry today when I think about Him in that dream . The bottom line is Jesus is Lord and He loves us and we will be with Him forever. We are as He is in this world Now and if that's how Jesus is in that book than that's how we are . Thank you John this was real good . ♥️🙏😇

I had a similar sighting of the blazing eyes of Jesus. I walked up to my pastor and his eyes were blazing like fire. I could see all the way to his heart where I saw his deep love for the church. I just stood and stared and stared as he smiled back at me. Later I asked Jesus what that was all about? He said, “Ben has my eyes.” And yes I have spent lots of time in Revelation-not to figure out timelines, but for the release of creativity. More creative works have been inspired by this book than by any other book ever written. It is the book where we stretch our imagination to see the voice, the Word made flesh, who created the physical world. Read it to expand your mind in the Ephesians 3:20 framework.

This is exactly what I needed to hear. Been sitting in a place for over a year now not really sure how I felt about the hell that a lot of Christians believe in. Really felt like hell was figurative and doesn’t depict the love of Christ. It also takes away humanity’s free will, which god will never do, even after this life, I believe. I have been asking God for clarity on the whole hell situation and this video really cleared things up for me. It also solidified. Thank you! keeping it all with an open hand though.

Great insights here. I'm thinking Revelation probably speaks interdimensionally and also across time. Meaning 70AD, all through time to varying degrees, then a final physical type toward the end. But also speaks to the individual and what revelation does to him/her. Victorious of course in the end. Thanks for your thoughts on this. Beautiful.

As one who literally converted to Orthodoxy on account of mystical theology and worship, I love this message. I’m not in agreement that Ireneus wasn’t good at dating though. Instead he stands out as the sole voice reconciling a host of historical problems a thirty three year old Jesus brings. 😢Luke 3:23 is the passage that needs to be re-evaluated. If Luke took it out of context (it was taken from a reference to the beginning of his ministry under John but rearranged because the subservience of Jesus to John was threatening to high Christology) then the forty + year old Jesus of Ireneus not only is confirmed as he explains why the Pharisees would have viewed him as an elder in John but also solves the problem of the flight from a Herod who died in 4 BC. It also reconciles Tertullian’s reflection on the 6BC census of Saturnus. So I believe against modern scoffers that Ireneus is reliable on dates. What is not reliable on dates is a preface to the Peshita. We have no early copy of that. Its preservation through Ephraim not only presupposes much later generational dating than Ireneus, but even if earlier dating of the Peshita could be entertained, its “preface” would be the least likely portion of it to belong to the original. It can only be the opinion of a later editor. The advantage of the preterist view is that it leaves us with the beauty that remains in the Apocalypse without the futuristic confusion and controversial obsession. Embracing even partial preterism, on the other hand, robs it of its prophecy -as if each verse could only mean one thing. Indeed, don’t let eschatology dictate Christology. Let the Logos dictate our eschatology. Base the unclear on what is clear. Declare who we are in Him. But don’t dismiss futurism. Simply order things by importance and clarity when teaching. Remind those interested that the blessing is in hearing, not in being right about its puzzles. Thank God that being right is not a requirement for salvation. The merciful love of Jesus will see us through this. And that surely is the blessing we receive.

Thanks, John. I'm with you, John. I don't know how much of the book of revelation is for the future, but what's most important is knowing that God is Love. Too much of Christendom is preaching fear-based religion instead of the gospel. Like the other books of the Bible, they must be interpreted through the Light of Life, Jesus.

Does this point to the rapture?...“Then there shall be two men in the field; one will be taken, and one will be left. Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken, and one will be left. Therefore be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming.-Matthew 24:40-42 IF it in fact points to judgment and the wicked being "raptured" or taken away in a sense, then isn't that still a quick and sudden & massive relief for the righteous?

I find it funny how so many Christian adamantly tell you rev was written at 95 AD because of one indication, so the date has to be late, they say, but meanwhile they insist Daniel was written 2600 years ago. I guess it really depends on what the publisher says

What about the end of spiritual babylon? Jesus says see I'm making all things new. His judgement starts at His House, so if the the Gospel started there it will go to the ends of the earth, the same for His judgement. Everything exist with the old will finish. Babylon will be judged accordingly

Revelations was written specifically to those seven churches. THEY were to both understand and take heed to those things in that book. The things prophesized to occur were to occur in their own lifetime, in that generation, in the first century. It was written for them! And it has been preserved for us to read and understand what occurred way back then to them.

Wonderful! A fresh breath of insight amidst all the stifling futurist prophecy confusion out there! 1. Unless Luke was wrong about the governorship of Quirinius and Herod died later than the record shows, Ireneus was right about the age of Jesus. 2. Ireneus relied on Polycarp, which is far more reliable than the Peshita. 3. I love your emphasis on unity with Christ and your identification of the harlot with Jerusalem but the millennium was embraced by multiple early fathers. And Ireneus’ observation concerning the reason for the coming thousand years is entirely fair. I appreciate amillennialist kingdom now thinking but don’t reject the prophetic within the apocalyptic allegory.
