i always loved this song. It seems I loved it so much that I was always too wrapped up in it's whole, to pay attention to all the lyrics. I've only just learned it's terrible climax. It really fucking tore me up as the words appeared on the screen. "stood up on the vanity chair" "What? Wait. Why?" "tied her Lame belt around the chandelier" "Fuck. NOOOOO!" I always thought this was one of their more upbeat songs. Christ.

@@eiresaoirse3258 That is indeed what the song is about. There are too many random and specific references in the lyrics such as the girl in the cake, mentions of her toasting cheers and so on, that I feel sure the song is based on a real event! Break the mystery for us please, Bob!

@@IqbalHamid yeah he said he read about it in a newspaper clipping it was only a small piece he said about the girl going to the party one night and during it went upstairs and killed herself.whos to say it wasent a party he was at? And the girl in the diamond smiles video is the same girl in the dont like mondays video, her name is michelle gibbons price....

I also discovered this video connecting Peaches to Hughie Green (remember him from Opportunity Knocks in the 70s?) yesterday.
