Yes it was written basically as a parody and people took it as a story song. It didn’t hurt that it shocked your parents either. Hell it still shocks people now.

In the innocence of the old version of childhood back in 1971, we never paid attention to lyrics that much. We just knew this was a great uptempo song that you could have fun singing along with. Their follow-up, "Give Up Your Guns", was also a big hit where I grew up and although it sounds completely different, it might be considered an even better song.

I vaguely remember singing along to the chorus back when I was in kindergarten. Tonight is the first time I paid attention to the lyrics. Yeah... now I know where Timothy went.

The group's name is pronounced "Boys". Their lead singer and guitarist, Bill Kelly, is alive and well in Nashville. The group, founded by Bill Kelly and Jerry Hludzik (RIP, from Jeddo Boro, PA) later became Dakota. The song rose to #14 in 1971. Three men were trapped in a mine. Two of the three ate the third, Timothy.

If you want another different kind of song check out The Legend by Steve Cook, he wrote it and they played it on the radio as an April fools but then people started calling in with their own stories of the Dogman. It’s a favorite song here in Northern Michigan and I’m lucky enough to live in one of the villages mentioned in the song.

There was two films. One was from 1976 called *"Survive"* from Mexico. The other was from Hollywood in.1993 called "Alive". Both films was about a true story of a rugby team that survived a plane crash in the mountains (winter for 2 months) & ate people that died to live. Or you can watch any zombie movie watching zombies eating the living or recent dead. Mmmmmmm. Fresh meat.
