Great to see you guys and Sailor Barry are becoming good friends, since we follow you both! We, as we live in Europe, didn’t realise that Magic Carpet II is in the same harbour as his boat(s). For those who are interested, this is Barry’s episode of with footage of the bowsprit: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fHutlGOaqNmWl68si=zM0zOC1UW-qrqXIy.

Just started watching you guys two weeks ago. Started watching old videos. Switzerland to Mediterranean to Netherlands by canals and rivers. Currently at season four episode 51. Marvelous, fantastic entertainment. Absolutely wonderful videos so entertaining. Spielberg and Lucas could not have done better. Great technical explanations from Dino and marvellous editing and music and volume and voiceover from Maya. There's nothing better on KZbin than your videos. Congrats and good luck.

Hey guy's, I've been watching for a long time. This time last year I was in the hospital fighting osteomyelitis a bone infection. Your content has taken my mind off my problems every Friday, I can't thank you enough. I have a small Grady White W/A cc that I've had a while. I refitted much of her, after watching you two I can't wait to be done all the surgeries to fix it so I can apply what I've learned from you both. Thanx guy's PS she's a beautiful vessel and I can't wait till splash day, God bless

Great job on the bowsprit. The head compartment looks roomy enough with sink and shower. Please be careful when standing on a 5 gal. plastic bucket. They get brittle and will crack. It happened to me (I weigh 185 lbs.) one time and luckily I didn't hurt myself too bad on the fall.

Have been admiring your and Maya's dedication, craftsmanship and "sticktuitiveness" since you started the project. Truly a primer for someone who wants to "do it right". Unsure if you've thought about the noise generated by the wires inside the mast. It is annoying on a quiet night at anchor with a slight swell, but installing a solid foam bulkhead at the bottom of the mast then filling the mast with styrofoam shipping "peanuts" stops it. Keep up the great work!

Very satisfying to see a couple of serious craftsman fitting the bowsprit. I loved the prisms. The bowsprit looks wide enough to do gymnastic exercises on. It was good thinking to put a kick under the raised floor for the toes in the head. As always, your aesthetics are first rate.

I always chamfer the holes around bolts using a 45 degree countersink bit--just a little, and if it is wood surrounding the bolt I put some epoxy resin so it soaks in. When the epoxy is cured or if the bolt passes through metal, I then slip an O-ring over the bolts shank. That O-ring is compressed into the chamfered space stops ANY leaks down the shaft of the bolts. Especially essential where there is any risk of slight movement such as deck stanchions. Lovely job so far--a work of art.

Regarding your head...I saw, somewhere, a head arrangement where the sink would swing away under the counter when not in use to make more room to shower. I want to say it, and the shower head, were on a pole, and the sink would pivot away under the cabinets. I believe it would be mounted in the same way the rotating shelves in corner kitchen cabinets. Flexible tubing would need to be used for water supply and drain, but that is simple enough. It was a small sink, but adequate for hand washing.

Bonjour From Fabule. Having a splitter for the VHF and the AIS is not the best solution. Since the VHF frequency band also encompasses the AIS band, it is not possible to do a diplexer (two isolation filters connected to the same antenna, separating transmit and receive functions of a full duplex transceiver). Therefore the splitter needs to be resistive and the RF losses in the VHF and the AIS signals in TX and in RX are at least 3dB (power/2) lower than with a direct connection to the antenna. Net results you lose 30% of range in both TX and RX which is bad. In addition the VHF has usually two TX power settings 6 and 25 Watts, while Class-B AIS is restricted at 2W. When the VHF emits at 25W the AIS will receive up to 1-2W of the WHF reflected power, which could be a problem for the AIS in RX. Long story short, I would recommend that you place two antennas on top of the mast, one for the VHF, and one for the AIS, with two coaxial cables. This is a much better solution. You will have understood by now that this is my trade… Good luck to you. The Swiss o Canadians of Fabule.
