But he is also the brutal hatred he has against supes and once those tentacles come out it isn't Butcher at the wheel for it is Kessler taking over and right now Butcher is at the wheel. But when he goes all out that is Kessler does the deed for Butcher is basically Eddie Brock and Kessler is Venom. Plus Butcher was aware when he attacked Newman for Hughie tried to get in forward of him and Kessler would've killed him if Butcher didn't tell him from within his mind to spare him(most likely and rest of the The Boys(including Kimiko and Starlight). Now Butcher is on the loose with a the Super V-Killer virus and he has every intention if unleashing it.

They didn't have his arms locked. We can see that he only manages to escape because they allowed him to push off the floor with his hands, which they could have avoided. They should have done a hammerlock on one, or both, of Homelander's arms (twist arms behind back, wrist toward shoulder). Butcher and Soldier Boy are both trained and experienced, they should have been familiar with this basic procedure. Judging by the hand-to-hand combat scenes, they were definitely more than strong enough to hammerlock Homelander's arms once they had him face down. Buuut the show still has seasons to go XD

Well first off in this scene it’s him vs homelander whereas later it’s him vs everyone else. Different situations entirely. Secondly I think this scene he’s arrogant and thinks he’s the obvious top dog and this will be like every other time where he wrecks them. He’s caught off guard in the first half of this just like homelander is in the second half. Neither messes around in the later episode
