After starlight got publicly humiliated in front of the whole world for something soooo personal and private. I do not blame her for acting out. Does it make it right? No! Read Spider Man's Life Story, a comic that basically consolidates all the major arcs Spider Man has gone through over the years since his character's inception. In the comics, Venom hosts Kraven, who becomes a husk of himself even while he has the symbiote on. As much as people like Venom and I understand why the symbiote is cool, it's equivalent to what we see here in The Boys.

Grace you're so right on how Marvel opened themselves up for that joke when they stopped delivering on those presentations. That's so spot on. I think back when you can feel full confidence that what they were presenting was gonna come out it was great but now it might as well be Phases 5 through 9 with how much they pitched. I hope after this we see a more confidence in pitches for the future phases in both comic mediums. This was a fun episode actually but it's disappointing that the Gen V characters don't do much other than be a familiar face to fill out the screen.

I think Ryan went along with it because he’s a teenager boy. He thought it was entertaining or he was curious to see a new outcome. He doesn’t really have to deal with the consequences to his actions yet and he’s detached from that reality. He hasn’t gone to see the stunts coordinators funeral. Homelander is still stuck as that little boy in that lab. So he can relate to Ryan on his immature level.

Neuman has to be in direct line of sight of her target in order to head pop. Even in the scene earlier, when she made their noses bleed, she had a line of sight because the door was clear plastic. Problem with the sheep is that they were fast, angry, could fly, and were 5 of them. Even if Neuman popped a couple, the others would end up reaching her. And while bulletproof, the sheep were still super, so they could've killed her

I think it depends on the supe. Like Sage is physically pretty easy to kill, some supes heal fast and others are just invulnerable (Kimiko regenerates- gets shot by bullets but heals really fast- and Homelander is invulnerable/ bullet proof). So Hughie probably gave him a very high dose of something like morphine.
@maul42

Honestly I feel like this was one of the worst written episodes. Hughie and his dad, of course, is very sad; we'll see where that goes. But otherwise you mostly had the Supes sidelined with the repetition of the MCU phase jokes while the team was out on their very suspension-of-disbelief stretching mission. Sheep not getting their heads exploded, not being able to crash through doors, and Butcher somehow being able to stop a guy, sever his leg, stow him in a secret spot with chains, and toss the leg into a field, without being seen or heard, in seconds was just such a poor sequence of events. I dunno, its takes a lot of suspension right now anyway. The more people Homelander is willing to kill/has killed and had it covered up for him, and the less worried about reprisal he is, the stranger it is that he hasn't just flown to the Boys' base and killed them all. I like the characters enough to just keep along with it all.

I sort of like how Hughie’s dad said he knew his son was too much of a softy to have the power to pull the plug. And instantly Hughie knew it was true, because he didn’t want to pull the plug when he thought he did have that power. But for those of us that have had pets whose time has come, or have actually had to make the call to pull the plug on a loved one (I’ve had to do both), when the real time comes, you hopefully step up, as Hughie eventually did. But it took the prospect of other lives to now be at stake before he could finally commit to doing it.

Grace, to your theory, I found it specious ( in retrospect) the moment Hughie’s Dad corroborates Daphne’s thwarted attempts at contacting Hughie, she leaves the room. Understandable at the time but perhaps, having extracted all the she needed from Hughie’s dad, her plan’s “final stage” (his death) was ready to be put in motion. Wasn’t it also the perfect touch that she not only begs Hughie for protection against his Dad, but then offers no obstacle to Hughie seemingly “orchestrating” his Dad’s euthanasia. Fishy

I think Jeffrey Dean Morgan's Joe character is NOT real. It's in Butcher's head. He's always alone with him. Butcher drove Joe's car when they were together (That was weird). Also, they always meet when no one is around. I have a strong feeling that Joe's character is an illusion.

Grace, I suspect you're way off base about Huey's mom. There's no "Hatred" involved. Dad was just personifying his past emotions in his current state of dementia. He was, 'Inside Out.' Dad revealed he kept her from Huey for HUEY'S benefit, so he could understand she repented from her past transgressions. She didn't tell Huey because she didn't want to blame the father. She took responsibility and doesn't need revenge for the issue she caused. You're blaming the mom for administering the dose, but it was ultimately Huey's fault for bringing the V into the hospital. As she said, V clearly works sometimes or there wouldn't be Supes, so she took the chance. I think the show is just replacing the dad with the mom for Huey's sake. The lord giveth and the lord taketh away. I could be wrong, but that's how I read it. Peace.✌️

Grace you can't possibly be saying Hughie's mom is a monster while calling Homelander a complex grey character at the same time Seeing all these complexities in the characters but you can't do the same for a suicidal woman who was going through post partum depression and simply couldn't live with her son or ruin him. Come on now, there's already complex things at play you don't need those theories.

My theory is Hughies mom was sent by Homelander, 1. homelander knows hughie ,by smell an etc an his connections. 2. From Atrain he'd know about his dad. 3. Homelander not going after boys immediately means he's got plans. 4. He'd know about hughie and Neumann connections. 5. after him disappearing knowing his temp V teleporting makes him a threat more than butcher

This season is predictable and repetitive…. I feel like the writers don’t know what to do with Ryan each week it’s back and fourth. It’s clear as day Billy butcher is the boys version of venom Sister sage all she does is ask ppl questions and stares at them. The gen v cast showed up for the sake of showing up. And I really don’t like Frenchie’s storyline. And Jeffrey dean Morgan is just there to get a check and clearly isn’t real. Homelander is slowly running into the repetitive territory as well

Sometimes you have to let someone's go when it's their time. Reminds me of my own relationship with my dad(rip). You can't let that person go because of the precious memories you've had with that person but fate is not yours to decide and that's the hardest part. I can relate with hughie on that one. It's the best decision he could have done. To let the universe runs its course as it should.

Ep 5 was great! I love seeing everyone in the same scene together. It really made a difference seeing that in action. Hughie Dad was basically Klaus Michaelson from Vampire Diaries. IFYKYK‼️ Over the hints pop cultures hit hard and hilarious!

Little confused about something in the opening scenes it shows a part where they have whatever compound and the one lady makes the dudes head explode in the parking garage after taking the canister from him. but I don't remember seeing that in any of the previous episodes. anyone know which episode that clip was from?

u know the commentary/satire gets old pretty quick when this show's kinda doing the same things- stretching out storylines to fill more seasons, making spin-offs to feed another huge corporation's bottom line

based upon the fact that they let a lot of reviewers see all 8 episodes makes me think there isn’t any big reveal or significant death this season. which isn’t needed in making the show good but that seems telling that this season will end without too much of a big surprised beachside regardless of NDA’s i feel like something “big” would have leaked.

12:42 I mean, is it a great plan, though? How is Butcher gonna keep up with the plan without Victoria finally realizing he's alive? How is he going to create more of the virus without leaving a trail of clues to their activities? How is he going to convince the scientist to go along with his plans all the way to fruition without rebellion from him which could create more problems? How is he going to move the scientist around without being scene or noticed? Where is he going to keep him? (You could say the CIA would hide him, but Victoria would find out, she has hands in the CIA.) What about supplies for his research? I dunno, this just seems like one of those plans that look good on paper, but is much more difficult to pull off without serious plot armour.
