I'm shocked they were considering running that freeway through the Brady's neighborhood since I always assumed they lived in a well-to-do area and rarely does that actually happen. They usually tear down the poor people's homes
@GSU2004
@GSU2004 3 жыл бұрын
They do attempt it from time to time to make it look fair but we do know, they always get out of it. It happened in Atlanta where they tore down the poor neighborhoods to start the project but dead end the road near the affluent neighborhoods when it was time to finish. I remember on an episode of Sanford (the 80s version), they wanted to tear down Fred's junkyard neighborhood for a new highway but opted to build it in an affluent area, like you said, something that rarely happens but they wanted to show what happens when folks spoke up and fight

@@lorimiller4301 Cool. I'm glad more people remember those episodes with me as the second season did not air completely until summer 1981 as it was yanked from the schedule due to low ratings. The original airing date for Freeway, the name of the Sanford episode was June 1981 (which had it aired originally would have been March 1981 since it was a midseason replacement). The episodes did air on BET a few times here and there over the years with a most recent airing in 2008 for a 'San-forward' promotional for spring forward in time. The 26 episodes aired throughout Summer 2008 and never seen again until someone uploaded the airings on youtube with the BET promos from that era.

@@lorimiller4301 Also, Married with Children in the later years had an episode where the Bundy's neighborhood was supposed to make way for a freeway and Bundy's were excited about the prospect of having a ton of money for their house and dreaming of how they would spend it. Unfortunately, the neighborhood was saved due to some environmental issue Marci found and Al ended up running her down the street with a baseball bat at the end, lol.

This episode is about eminent domain. Eminent domain is the act of taking private property for public use. I went through this as a child... except our house was important to my parents because of the location... the house was downtown, and there was a grocery store on our block. We needed a downtown house because my mother didn’t drive. The city tore down all 5 houses on our block and put in a parking lot. There was an empty lot across the street... they could have put the parking lot there, but the city council wanted the parking lot in the exact center of the downtown area of our middle class suburb. My mother actively tried saving the houses by getting people to sign a petition... but, you can’t fight city hall. Maybe she should have run for city council.

It lasted for 6 episodes. Viewers didn't want to see characters from Brady Bunch as adults with adult problems. The writing was terrible. Another problem was that Robert Reed was not well. People could tell but didn't know that it was HIV/AIDS in addition to Colon Cancer. Few knew he was gay with him hiding that his entire career. Had the show gone on another year he might have died during it's production. CBS kept moving episodes to multiple days and slots treating each episode as standalone. This was only made because the 1988 A Very Brady Christmas did huge numbers. It was shown years after production too.
@queen_of_domination
@queen_of_domination 4 жыл бұрын
@@gdroberts8163 During this time, the networks kept trying to fish for material, resulting in them trying to bring back multiple shows that were successful in the sixties and seventies. Unfortunately, most shows attempting a reboot rarely match up to the first run, and should be left in the past. Can you imagine an All in the Family reboot?! It would be terrible!! As far as Robert Reed being sick, many people knew, as a flux of well-respected actors, athletes, and singers kept succumbing to HIV, or admitting to being HIV positive around that time, including Liberace, Arthur Ashe, Magic Johnson, Sylvester, Freddie Mercury, Rock Hudson, Anthony Perkins (who had his first time with a woman at age 39), Perry Ellis, and Gia Carangi. Because many people were testing positive for HIV/AIDS, everyone was immediately suspected of having it if they started looking gaunt in any way.

The family freaking out about the quality of their temporary house is ridiculous. It's just for a month! And if it really bothers you that much, then just stay in a motel for a month instead. If Mike and Carol can afford to lift their house onto trucks and move it (and give the girls a $10,000 loan a few weeks later), I'm sure they can afford four weeks in a motel.

The writing and dialogue on "The Bradys" are on par with or maybe 1 or 2 notches above "Saved by the Bell" or "Step by Step" which were playing during the era. When you have witty shows with controversy like Married wIth Children and The Simpsons also playing, it's hard to see this show breaking out. Family-friendly dramedy just ain't going to cut it UNLESS you have 1 or 2 breakout stars like Michael J. Fox or John Ritter who shine with tons of charisma.

Well one of the main problems with this show was that they were taking a half hour comedy and turn it into an hour long drama. And the variety show from the mid 70s was an exceptionally bad idea, it just didn't work.

Wow, this really SU**ED. What horrible writing and acting. There is a reason that none of these people had careers in film. Using clips from the old show was a cheap move.

Florence was the one person who did The Love Boat more than any other actor. She was on 9 times. She also was on a bunch of other shows. Robert Reed was a classically trained actor. He wasn't well here unfortunately.

Some one should take a bit of time and imagine what the Brady's would be like in 2020. And have good weighting and do a series of the remaining kids, cast, relationships, mom and dad being gone, grand kids, real shit, funny, rea, and real now shit.. That would be way, so cool
