I’m 60 and grew up loving the Partridge Family. As a kid I never considered how beautiful of a lady Shirley Jones was until I became an adult, but I must confess I had a huge crush on Susan Dey. She was and still has the face of an angel as far as I’m concerned. Thanks for putting together a great documentary of such a fantastic show!

@@otmargreb6110 the music was incredibly well produced, churning hits weekly to fit into the plot of a family show. From talented composers like Tony Romeo, Paul Anka, etc. Amazing. The actual band was the famous Wrecking Crew, very coveted and talented studio musicians who only got a days pay out of it. They played for other big groups, TPF and also worked on David’s individual albums which I think are as good as the Wes Farrell TPF produced songs and better represent his personal musical tastes. Watching the show I’m surprised how liberal it was compared to now and also that the songs about love (replace ‘hugging’ with … well you know what) got away with singing about sex! Summer Days is hard to watch as Keith sings it to every member of the family when it’s says in the sexy lyrics “ yeah…you gave your love to me”. So many of his songs were about young love and what kids did about it. Very modern compared to a fav oldie My Three Sons. But David became a phenomenon and everyone wanted and got a piece of him. When he was back from a hiatus with rock albums, Disco had taken over the fickle American public.

Dave Madden was a regular cast member of "Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In". Ah c'mon. Everybody new what Susan Dey looked like naked from her appearance in "Looker". David Cassidy was stereotyped by his role as Keith Partridge. David had a hard time getting acting jobs. Because of his "bubblegum" years, his singing career fizzled. He wasn't taken seriously. David Cassidy did the theme song for the John Larroquette show. His name wasn't listed in the credits and wasn't revealed until the end of the show when David made a guest appearance. As far as who sang on the show, that would be David Cassidy, period. Shirley Jones was a proven gifted singer but she didn't sing on the recordings. All the recordings were done in a recording studio. The musicians who played on the Partridge Family recordings were members of "The Wrecking Crew". They were given credit from the first album-on.
