You know, given the recent announcement of The Daleks getting colourised and condensed, I wouldn't be surprised if the BBC decided to give this version of The Brain of Morbius a screening.

I grew up with this VHS. It was terrific. Between this and the Five Doctors, got me hooked onto the series. Terrific work in combining the two elements. I appreciate all the hard work you put into presenting the two side by side.

Thanks for putting this up, I have the edited vhs but never got around to sitting down and comparing with the re-release or dvd. I watched the edited version when the dvd came out but by the time I got around to sticking the disc on (and having a few wines) I’d forgotten what was snipped. I expect we’ll see this version on the eventual blu-ray release.

I really want to see the heavily edited version again. I went years not knowing it was cut down but it works really well. To this day remains my favourite episode. Hope it makes it into the collection

I first caught a glimpse of this video in a display case at the Longleat DW exhibition. It was a story my parents remembered well so they pointed it out to me. I've never curious to see this edit - hopefully it'll be on the season 13 blu-ray

Video suggestion the 3rd doctor classic spearhead from space the bridged VHS has a few cuts and the 2 DVD released are different to each over and it has a blu ray release

Very interesting video! I did own the cut down BBC video in 1988, and haven't seen it since then. I did get the unedited reissue in the early '90s. I'll say this, whilst the DVD does have better detail and blacks, imo the VHS does have better colours; the skin tones look more pleasing to the eye.

Wow, feels like you could probably assemble a workable serial from those cuts. I wondered how they could have removed so much given Brain of Morbius already feels like one of the pacier serials of the 70s

To be honest most Dr Who episodes come easy be edited down by half. Especially the six parts stories

Lovely comparison. Ironically, what was removed left a very bland story. Most of the character moments and humour was in the cuts.
