IDK about you, but whenever I hear "empowering ", I am reminded of these Evergreen College wannabe revolutionists. Going around campus to flush out "...counterrevolutionists". with baseball- bats and/or Twitter comments.

You're the future, and you've come for what is yours The hidden treasure, locked behind the hidden doors And the promise of a day that's shiny new Only a dreamer, could afford this point of view But you're a driver, not a passenger in life And if you're ready, you won't have to try 'cause

...dear GOD, I NEVER knew they made a Video to this SONG!! ..Siedah's (only) run with BNH, was a GOLDMINE of Pop / Funk / R&B FABULOUS-NESS; The writing was top-notch, the instrumentation was slick, yet funky...the 1997 "Shelter" CD was INCREDIBLE, and showed the band could move forward, without N'dea Davenport.... (cont.) ... unfortunately, the Albums' promotion was VERY scattered; the wrong singles were released, the UK audience got a 'bonus' release ('You Got A Friend') that was getting more promo in the U.S. than the U.S. release ('You Can Do It'), & Siedah left, after the tour.... BUT, the 'Shelter' CD remains a cult CLASSIC...

I remember when N"dea called me and told me that she was going to take a break from the Brand New Heavies. She was ready to go solo and she had a hot list of producers ready to write with her including Daniel Lanois, Stuart (Sade) Matthewman & Dallas Austin & I. I met N'dea when we were in high school. She recognized me from my days of dancing on television with James Brown on his show Future Shock & a few guest appearances on Soul Train as a featured dancer. N'dea sang like a bird. As we flirted in our early years, she told me that she could sang. I listened to her and shared the phone with my mom as she sang a Denise Williams song. She became my Jr. Sr. high school prom date. I produced and wrote her first two songs that remain unreleased gems "Please, Comeback Into My Life" & "Let Yourself Go" co- written with Jody Mayfield. We continued to record a collection of songs that I wrote with Jody Mayfield & Davenport. When she told me Sieddah Garrett wanted her blessing as she contemplated an offer to join the band. N'dea & I both agreed that she would definitely bring her own brand of unique vocal techniques & her writing style that could only add more sensual soul to the sound of the band. 'You Are The Universe" was my favorite track . The texture & mix of the recording was flawless. N'dea Davenport & Sieddah Garrett are two of the undisputable legends of pop/soul music who influenced many artists & should be hailed for their great contribution to modern music.
