You are really trusted in the industry, being given such access to the tower, for instance. Of course your viewers trust and recognize your impeccable level of being factual, clearly stating any biases you may have, and open mindedness. This highlights it. It's also a great example of your skill with video making. I laughed in surprise at the 'outtake' at the end. I'm sorry you generally work on larger yachts, as far as being unlikely to end up spending any time there, but really appreciated your awareness and concern for all crew members, as is your usual. I think the fact that it keeps the biggest yachts out is a good thing. Being moored next to one is like permanent night time (over shadowed). I like the circular design too as it means that whilst the bows of Yachts are still close to each other, the flanks of the Yachts have a little more breathing space, rather than chafing fenders squeezed between each Yacht.

It appears they’re deliberately trying to get rid of the pesky smaller yachts in Monaco to make more room for super yachts there. They don’t want millionaires…only billionaires, lol.

I used to know an English lady who lived in the centre of Ventimiglia, she also owned an apartment in the old part of the town which I used to rent for holidays. Was a regular visitor once upon a time although not been there for some years now. Back then there was a lot of talk about the marina project, the balcony of the apartment overlooked that part of the coastline. Thanks for the video to bring me up to date!

If the marina is full and paying off the debt requisite to build it, and hopefully turning a profit, it was no mistake. The work looks like very high quality. It looks like they sourced the stone from the mountain immediately behind it. One thing I don't understand is the slight hump in one of the access ways. Many thanks for another great video.

Drove there last week from Monaco. Town felt down market but welcoming. It’s the 75M issue that I don’t get. You look at over winter modern marinas like Vilanova, Port Vell, Tarragona on the western end, then obviously the glory of Genoa and its joined airport it seems small. The drive wasn’t 40 mins due to roadworks but wasn’t a killer. Hear here on the coffee! Great piece!

A lot of airports are actually moving to using virtual towers as they are cheaper to build and have better visibility, especially in low and no light conditions and bad weather.

Travel Lift is the generic term that is generally used for that type of boat lift in boat yards. This is because you can lift the yacht, and then drive the vessel to whichever section of the yard is available, or necessary for certain types of repairs.

Beautiful marina! It reminds me of an ancient port from somewhere on the Mediterranean, I can't think of the name right now. This design is similar to that one. I'm an ancient history nerd. Interesting!

The blue yacht in the background of the tower was originally named Margaux Rose back in the 80´s, later named Shandor, and the yacht that got my attention to Superyachts. It was probably one of the first explorer style yachts. It had a ballon gondola, don’t know how they ever planned to land it though…

A drive from Monte-Carlo to Ventimiglia would take 30 minutes. It is 25km away. It is a nice drive. Seems a great location for Monaco to use.

On the whole I would far prefer to be in Ventimiglia over Monaco, no contest. With the possible exception of the Monaco Botanic Gardens, but hey you have the Hanbury Gardens so… And yes, the coffee really is much better! Great to see the new marina finally up and running, and looking pretty good. Do you have a hat nearby to eat?

We visited Ventimiglia by train about 2 years ago when on holiday in Nice and sat on a bench overlooking the marina development. Great to see it finished so well but I did wonder at the time about its proximity to Monaco - however, given everything is a fraction of the price of both Nice and Monaco (including fantastic coffee in bonkers cafes) I hope it’s successful.

Thanks for the video. While it's often the information that's appealing, the visuals you provide are often a second benefit with the seascapes and natural terrain shots. A few questions to consider though, to potentially address in future videos: -Have the port authorities decided if this was a success or not? If so, do you know if or think they'll build a tertiary port to allow the larger vessels? -When in Italy, what coffee (cappuccino, latte, espresso, etc.) do you recommend? Does this vary from region to region?

I still adore how Bold looks from the front. The side windows I'm a bit inbetween on but the front and rear profiles are that of a warship, in fact she really looks like a corvette minus the gun. I'm sure you've got to give up significant gross tonnage for that so if I were the owner I'm not certain it'd have made sense to do it, but since I'm almost certainly going to spend more time looking at her it's certainly the right choice for me!

I am curious to know the cost of a berth. Would these be yearly leases for the smaller vessels. The layout of the marina is beautiful and once the vegetation is mature I think it might be nicer the Monaco. It is a shame they have limited themselves to the 70 and under yacht size, but that was by design and will be very appealing to the 70 and under yacht owners.

Being such a young Marina hopefully in 10 or so years time it will have more facilities and better vibe than it does now, and maybe there is room for future expansion and flexibility. To me it looks like an excellent spot for some R&R.

Excellent overview. Ventimiglia itself is pretty cool too. Been several times. Great little shops, restaurants etc all along Via Cavour. Train station provides another way into Monaco/Nice etc.

They should call the tower..."The Pill"... because it controls all the births.... Sydney harbour (Australia) used to have a tower that was called "The Pill" for that same reason. The Sydney "Pill"was replaced by an extensive network of cameras.

Looks like it would be ideal for yacht chasers/support vessels. They are carrying the toys and extra crew for the superyacht, not the owner. It really doesn't matter if they "feel" like they are in Monaco.

I have read here in the States (Miami being the genesis) that with more and more people buying large yachts and S/Y's, there is a movement for a global investment of regional marinas for ship docking but mostly modern services. I.e. a global corporation would buy the marina in Cagliari, IT and basically retrofit it from the water up....I guess you could call it marina gentrification because potentially it would displace by costs/fees your daily fisherman or runabout boat enthusiast. Cala Del Forte could certainly be considered as a template.

Looks like a good place to dock for both crew and owners. Owners are 20 min away from Monaco. Crew has good facilities.
