lowkey the best parts of brawl where the nail biter timeout situations. 1 stock brawl is like ideal for encouraging this so I think it was the best. I think if it was played more today 1 stock brawl would have become the standard. It's just hard to get people onboard with change.

I'll be honest when I say my best memories of Brawl were in Project M doing pretty much exactly what you mentioned in the video, booting it up like I was a magician or something and playing it with friends, that said, during the heyday of PM I did compete in 1 PM tournament before Nintendo got involved and kinda killed the scene, it was at my high school and wasn't recorded or broadcasted anywhere, but I did beat 4 other people and get to quarter finals with Toon Link and was knocked out (there was no loser bracket) by the guy (a Falco player) who won the whole thing. Other than that, I don't have many standout memories of Base Brawl itself.

This is super irrelevant but I was watching a playthrough of Madagascar for the ps2 yesterday and liked the themes so listened to the full ost while on a 16 mile run through the snowy city of Boston. There are ways to make Brawl better via rulesets that haven't been fully explored. Final Smashes can be allowed in Doubles play due to the high chance of KOing your teammate. Other items can also be considered. Heavy Brawl is a thing. Also, handicaps exist and would've been the easiest way to balance the cast against eachother.
