You know I think he has liked Allison since the moment he saw her because he always defended her, bothered to ask about her problems and actually caring what was going on in her life and he worries about her. He stares at her a lot in the movie so I don’t think it was because of the make over I think it just took him a little while to understand how he felt about her besides all Claire did was make pull back Allison’s hair and took that eye shadow off

Same here!!!! I love their pairing more than Claire and John's because the way they paired up was more slow and subtle unlike Claire and John's which felt rushed and out of the blue. Also, Andy was the very first person to talk to Allison. It happened when they were getting soda from the teacher's lounge. Claire did try to talk to her in a deleted scene but she didn't budge. Some say even John did it too in another deleted scene and she still didn't talk

@@innatebubble121 honestly? Long term. I mean of course he seems infactuated with her, I mean he's a teenage boy and we all know exactly what's on his mind. But give it time, it'll develop into something more mature, she'll help bring out his creative side and he'll help her become more sociable. He'll stick with wrestling and get his scholarship (Alisons parents will probably pay for her to go to college with him, they're assholes for ignoring her, but judging by what they were driving when they dropped her off at the beginning of the movie I would say they had money.) So they'll spend their college years together (You'd need a crowbar to separate them) then they'll get a flat (apartment) together. Andrew would make a living as something semi-high paid, perhaps a corporate job, but his aggressive competitive streak will get him far. Alison, definitely an artist. Perhaps gaining her own gallery. They'd hold off having kids till they're financially secure, but they'll stay together. John and Claire? A week. I'd say Brian will end up wealthy and Claire will end up marrying him.

1:43 That acting of showing disbelief, in complete silence, was amazing. Allison, who stated that her parents "ignore" her, making her feel likely neglected mentally, shows which seems to be emotional confusion, that Andrew shows curiosity, and concern towards her, in a "You've got my full, undivided attention. However long it takes." Impression. Because she never receives much acknowledgement. Ten out of ten acting on that part! And the soundtrack made it better too.

Once Andrew asked why she was there, it was the first sign of someone including her as part of something, though Bender recognized her too. Might be wrong, but, I also think that her fluctuating speaking volume showed that she's not at all a strong verbal communicator. This is so sweet (eventually). He seems to really understand how damaging the neglect she is suffering is. It definitely wasn't my experience growing up, and I don't think I would have "gotten" the implications of her family situation when I was in high school. I feel like neglect is not as easy to for adolescents to identify as damaging (when they are not suffering from it) because it's not as outright as physical and emotional abuse, and because we are looking for independence at that stage in our development, and mistake the parental neglect our peers are suffering under as an opportunity for freedom. I love this depiction for that reason. It seems so validating.

“They Ignore Me”. So many possibilities of what this could mean. Is she ignored because of her antics and behaviors. Perhaps she was an unplanned child. Maybe she was the victim of S*xual assault and her parents don’t believe her. Maybe even one of her parents are the one’s perpetrating it. So tragic this scene but also very hopeful and powerful. When Andrew refuses to go away and gets her to open up, it’s like Allison was seeing a miracle first hand. She was seeing someone fight for her. Someone who actually stopped what they were doing to invest in her soul. No wonder she stands completely floored by what she sees. Movies just do NOT have scenes like this in them anymore.

breakfast club is a brilliant movie, because it doesn't invent anything - it just...explicates existence. And by that, I mean - it's every generation of every teenager in the modern world. That crux between childhood and adulthood. The moment when you realize that the adult world is just as fucked up as you are, even though you've come to rely upon it to be wiser, more stable, more rational than you've ever had any reason to be. This is a squad of kids, basically, only barely grasping fundamental aspects of adulthood...sociology. They're grasping ideas like classism and hypocrisy and empathy on a conscious level, quite possibly, for the first times in their conscious lives. They're totally full of shit, and the rest of the world is totally full of shit, and each one of them has access to pure truth that none of the rest of them can see except that in this moment, they're each just vulnerable enough that they can embrace the insight that each of them has while also acknowledging the fact that each and every one of them is totally full of shit at the same time. It's beautiful, it's timeless, it's universal, and every teen angst-era movie that fails to address personal teen wisdom combined with personal teen biased bullshit falls short of truth. Any movie, tv show, play, book, any drama that purports that the teen experience is somehow not at least 50% full of crap and 50% full of being absolutely fed up with the 50% bullshit of the adult world is failing to give teens an accurate picture of responsible adult behavior, as far as I'm concerned...which is why you can always come back to breakfast club as one of the truly well-balanced teen perspectives of the modern world, regardless of whatever era you live in

She’s subject to severe neglect from her parents, they more than likely never talk to her and avoid her like the plague, remember the beginning when she’s dropped off and the car peels away before she could go up to the front passenger side to tell her mom/dad something, plus they don’t seem to question why she needs to be at school on a Saturday when she did nothing wrong? Even if she lied about needing to be in detention, parents should be notified by the school. Also it looks like she has pretty bad impulse control issues due to the neglect as she is a self-confirmed compulsive liar, an implied kleptomaniac, and supposedly goes to a psychiatrist (her tall tale about banging her shrink is only a half lie). Plus, if you listen more to how she talks, she sounds like someone who’s barely allowed out of their room at all, the cadence in her speech is weird like her words just EXPLODE out her mouth.
