It's 2020 and his best lines are we need to stop the UK from being an unfair competitor so the EU need to be able to make the laws in the UK that govern what is fair and what is wrong and, quote, "if they are going to sell fish to us, we have to be able to fish it ourselves" in the justification for allowing EU vessels to carry on fishing in UK waters when the UK has left. Yup, Guy still hasn't got the mania out from him.

@Johnny NotEnglish When you revert to insults it is a sign that you have lost the argument. I did read that it is the Scots without brains that voted for independence, mind you perhaps that's why only 4 out of the 32 Scottish regions in the last vote had a majority for independence. All these 4 regions are the ones with masses of council houses and people with no ambition. I expect you come from one of these regions. Now wise man please tell me what benefits will independence bring? Please also tell me why the SNP's have made such a mess with health, drug deaths have tripled under the SNP’s watch. The NHS maintenance backlog is over £1 billion. Education, Scotland has recorded its lowest PISA scores on record for maths and science whilst two thirds of schools have not been inspected for five years. The SNP wasted £7 million of taxpayers’ money on cars for government ministers whilst the SNP spent over £1.3 million on car trips - despite declaring a climate emergency. The SNP botched the delivery of two new CalMac ferries estimated costs have jumped from £97 million to at least £250 million. The SNP appointed Lord Advocate admitted the Crown Office maliciously prosecuted individuals involved in the Rangers takeover - costing taxpayers at least £40 million. Due to the SNP Government’s incompetent handling of the Salmond case, they had to pay out over half a million pounds to him. There are 22,000 fewer council staff than when the SNP came to power. And the list go's on and on.

@@michaelthedriver242 Where did you learn your math? 51 to 49 provides a majority 50 to 50 creates no majority. MPs have been elected with a majority of 1 (usually decided by the toss of a coin). Parliament had the opportunity of requiring the size of the majority to be 60/40 or some other figure - but they went with a simple "majority" - that is how our democracy worked - at the moment it is broken because the losers have refused to accept the result.

Derek Moore The EU has never understood our take on personal liberty and liberal democracy. We have had a very different historical experience from that of our continental neighbours. Land borders have demanded large standing armies and centralised autocratic power - living on an island we have relied on a strong navy. Absolute monarchy was abolished in 1689 and a couple of German-born kings encouraged parliamentary government by establishing the role of a first minister. Our unique historical good fortune was put at risk by the vanity of Edward Heath.

@Alfa&Omega 00000 Since when have you been 'both alpha and omega"? Since 1948 we were asked only once whether we wanted to join a Common Market. No mention of a 'united European homeland,' nothing about being ruled from Brussels, never a word about losing national sovereignty, absolute silence about being absorbed into a Franco-German Imperium. Peace in Europe has nothing at all to do with the EU but EVERYTHING to do with NATO. I served Queen and country to help maintain peace - how dare you tell me that I have 'no will' to preserve peace you arrogant, self-important yapper. The totalitarian eastern European police states claimed to be crammed to bursting point with "bratsvo" but 'brotherhood' doesn't always mean 'friendship.' They also boasted that they were 'democracies' Yes, the Poles had an elected monarchy in the 18th century until three neighbours decided to carve Poland up and share it out between them. The Poles, just like the Irish, Maltese and Cypriots, after centuries of foreign rule, have joined another imperium. Why is the EU so angry that the UK has voted to leave? You might care to bear in mind that no empire has survived - all empires decay from within - the EU will be no exception. As for elected monarchy: My Anglo-Saxon ancestors had an elected monarchy too over a thousands years ago.

Pretty impressive for a small island right? so I am sure we will be just fine not having to donate additional billions of euros to the Eu to prop up the other 27 eu vasel states that are not doing so well economically. You’ve got to consider, Germany is at 4th position at the moment because the U.K. hasn’t quite left yet, but I can assure you that this position will nosedive dramatically when the U.K. fully departs. Germany will probably sit at 6-7th position, that I think you know will mean all the other Eu states will have to dig a lot deeper in their pockets to keep the eu’s head above water. Lol, I think you should inform yourself more about how the EU really works. USA is more centralized than the EU and has more power on the affairs of the individual states than countries in EU. EU can't decide for the individual countries and what you say they can talk them what they should do. The countries in the EU are independent entities and EU is more of a collection of economic,trade and political treaties between the countries. It tries to connect all the different countries more together so Europe doesn't again tear itself apart. There were no times before in Europe more secure and peaceful before EU. Do you know what happened in Europe after ww1? Economic struggles that went to radical ideologies, political crisis in every single country between the left and the right and then a war that brought millions of deaths. Does EU works perfectly? Absolutely not. Is it better option than the alternative? Yes in any way. Do you know what's the alternative? They don't say who doesn't learn from the mistakes in the past is doomed to repeat them. Radicalization of Europe, igniting old rivalries and build up of armies. Ask any civilian of Europe is that what they want? Do they want another tumultuous time of insecurity and instability? People fall for personality like Farage because of his charisma and how confident he looks and not thinking logically about things and learning some history and geopolitics. I hate governments in general, I know people there only think about their salaries and not the people, look history and see that a Europe without a body that will bring countries closer like the EU is a one giant battlefield.

Yes, it’s virtually a Pavlovian reflex for the Remainers/Globalists; no logical fallacy is beneath them. A recent debate between Bernard-Henri Levi and Steve Bannon where Levi puts on a heartfelt show of pity for Bannon regarding a “cruel” tweet by Trump, is just one of the more striking examples. Well, that’s not a logical fallacy, but it comes from the same wellspring of bad faith. I’m rereading Fools, Frauds and Firebrands by Sir Roger Scruton; this shameless mendacity has so permeated the intelligentsia (and many downstream of them) that it’s frankly difficult to see how bloody civil unrest can be avoided.

@jasonst888 4 жыл бұрын
@Raven X I hate to say it mate but that is literally impossible, even if we leave with 'no deal' we will just start negotiating a deal from day 1 outside of the UK. Whether we are part of them or not we will always trade with them and as the bigger trading partner we will likely be more subject to their rules than they will be to ours. Yes we can get trade elsewhere...but trade is always subject to the principle of gravity....best will in the world trade with Australia or even America will never overtake our trade with our neighbours.
@DeezilOyl
@DeezilOyl 4 жыл бұрын
@@jasonst888 There are a number of reasons not least that for a considerable time we will still be paying around 15 billion per year - gross figure was 20 odd with a rebate of 4 and a half. This could be spent in our own country supporting public services including NHS, pensioners, young people setting out in life and getting on the housing market for example. Our fishing industry and waters has been decimated - in a proper Brexit we take back control of our own waters with limited access to foreign gigantic trawlers decimating stocks. Not sure the exact figure but about 80% of fish taken from British waters is taken by EU countries - hardly fair. Since quotas were introduced by the EU fishing fleets around our coasts have been vastly reduced thereby causing considerable job losses in the UK. The French weren't too happy ealier this year when British Trawlers went into their waters and it is lucky some of our fleet weren't sunk. In addition under this new treaty the EU will be able to set VAT rates in Northern Ireland and any trade deals that are agreed with non-EU countries will be subject to serious restrictions so that we do not become more competitive than the EU... The foolishness of our leaders to accept this is tantamount to downright stupidity. The EU will still have supremacy over our trading laws but won't have with a 'clean break.' This is in effect giving a foreign power the right to over-rule our laws. How can that be a proper Brexit? How can it be a proper Bexit when a border is created down the Irish sea between one of our member countries so that trade must be checked between GB and Northern Ireland? I appreciate you don't want to start a row but these are some of my concerns. The 17.4 million didn't vote to half leave and didn't vote to allow controls by the EU which is clearly in this latest re-vamped Teresa May's treaty with a few improvements but nonetheless not Brexit which is why it is not appealing to me or a hell of a lot of other 'Leave' voters. Unfortunately a lot of our MP's have become so fatigued with Brexit and the shananigans of the EU and 'Remain' parties that they are now willing to accept any old deal just to get it done. Regards
