This fire pit is one of a few covered pits that is on the list kzbin.infoUgkxAU9pOCSV9Y5JprooHvfxTpOrt4hx8uRM of approved products for Disney Fort Wilderness. The product served its purpose well and provided excellent fires throughout the evening. We were able to open the door and do s'mores, but I had to be careful because the handle was a bit hot on occasions. Additionally, I wish they had replaced some of the standard nuts with lock nuts in some places. We lost the door handle after just a couple of days of usage. Not a deal breaker, just a recommendation. I still give it 5 stars.

So glad to see that you placed the hot embers in a metal bucket and set it on the concrete outside your house. Several years ago, my nearby neighbor placed his bucket of hot embers on his workbench in his garage, and left the property to run errands with his wife. They came home an hour later to fire trucks blocking his street. His house was on fire, with flames bursting through the roof of the level above his garage!

Put rugs down where there is going to be heavy traffic, by the kitchen sink and doorways if not the floor will turn white in those areas, ~ experience btw get a couple extra boxes and store them away you will be glad you did.

When you dropped that line "until my fingertips were gone", I could not help but laugh. I imagined you might say "So, I took to robbing banks and that is really why we up here in the middle of nowhere, laying low and living the good life. Little trick for lvl around door jambs. Take a chunk of the floor and use it to space up an orbital tool. Cut under the door frame. Then slide the flooring right under the door. It ends up looking super clean.

That's how I do it now as well, and not just for LVL, it works for the laminate flooring as well, really for any flooring. The oscillating multi-tools are great for this stuff...I also use it for cutting out HVAC vent openings...I just mark on the wall the measurements where the vent opening is and mark it low enough that the baseboard covers it up that way after I get the flooring done I can quickly go back and cut out the vents then reinstall the baseboards.

Just a tip, start your flooring on the longest wall that you can. It makes the room look bigger by the direction of the floor, but also it is the longest run for keeping the floor straight as you can to the rest of the room. If you start in the corner by the refrigerator, the floor could be far off from being straight by the time you're done.

On a soldier course like the front row of your work, use a story stick with the center of each brick marked. This makes it much easier to lay a soldier course that must be spaced between two fixed ends.

@maryblaylock6545
@maryblaylock6545 3 жыл бұрын
If you use your stove or fireplace a lot it pays to get the equipment necessary to keep the chimney clean. If this is done on a regular basis, say every other month if in heavy use with pine wood, there shouldn't be any creosote build up which is what causes chimney fires. P.S. Black clothing and top hat are NOT mandatory! Un- lined chimneys are a hazard as are putting petrol and too much wood in the fire box. Everything in moderation. I have used lint stuffed into empty toilet paper rolls to start fires. You only need one.

My wife and I used a similar product for our kitchen and hallways in the house. It is a high traffic area and knew we liked the wood look but also that wood wouldn't wear. What we ended up buying was a commercial grade flooring, such as you bought, but with a more brownish color. The floor has been in six years and shows no sign of wearing. We even extended that flooring into one of the bedrooms that we are using for an office. The flooring we used has a 10 year warranty in a commercial use but lifetime in a home. We also bought one extra box of the flooring in case we ever damaged a piece, so we had spares from the same build lot. You will love that flooring. The installers started from one wall and cut pieces at a random length to start with so the planks had a randomness. The only partial's were at the ends.

I find that I am often extra (sometimes even unfairly) critical of the work you do, simply because you do it instead of getting it done by someone else. I guess it's a flaw in modern society to always presume that work done by an 'amateur' is of lesser quality. But this video I did not feel that, because even though you literally stated that you are not a professional bricklayer, you did a phenomenal job on something that many people wouldn't even dare tackle themselves. Very excited to see your home come together more and more. All of you (kids included) are doing amazing, and I envy your persistence and the sheer cojones you all have for just moving out to the country and living life as if it's the way anyone does it. I hope to one day take on a similar adventure with my family, because I'm finding city living less and less enjoyable myself. Greetings from a young adult in the Netherlands. Love the finished look of all the brick wall and pad. The new flooring is beautiful, soft but calm look and look mom won't show the dirt YIPPEEE!!! Great choice in color for sure especially with the appliances, brick ...no wonder it took so long to find that right pattern and color. YAH DID GOOD you TWO!!! God's blessings.

Our neighbors and my husband and I built a wall between our properties (with a gate, of course), using antebellum bricks from an old demolished home in the country. My job was to knock off all the old mortar. Like you, my fingers were tender and lacking fingerprints for quite awhile after the work was done! The hearth is beautiful - I especially love those turns and the brilliant way you disguised those holes! And the flooring is perfect.

Brickwork looks great! I thought the line was wandering on the right side at first, but it was just the camera's POV and everything looks clean and neat. Can't wait to see the flooring!

Heath, The cement in brick mortar and stucco is caustic and will cause burns when It comes in contact with skin. Like you I burned off the fingertips but on my left and right hands. when working with cement products it's important that your skin not come in contact with the mortar, and if it does to wash your hands soon afterwards.

Heath....As the son of a career bricklayer I knew when I saw those tumbled 'empress' bricks you would have to do a 'rollock' course on the outside perimeters and miter the corners. But it sure turned out awesome for 'newby'. You never cease to impress me. WELL done! God Bless....~Eli. (ps....grouting with a 'bakers bag' SUuuucks!....LOL)
