You know I never hated oikawa for the reason that when his teammates cost him points or were less witted and talented he never took his anger out on any of them
@abcxyz-yt3xc3 жыл бұрын
how people can dislike Oikawa is beyond me... He could've taken the easy route to nationals by going to Shiratorizawa but he defended his pride and tried his hardest to carry Aoba Johsai there himself by practising more than anyone. Kageyama, Ushijima and Nishinoya are definitely the most talented players in the prefecture but I couldn't see any of them being able to single-handedly take an average Seijoh team to the top 4 teams in Miyagi. Oikawa is in no way untalented but what puts him in the top 5 players nationally is his passion to beat players that are more talented than him.

remember kita’s speech about monsters? fits oikawa perfectly.
@strictlyfootball78412 жыл бұрын
To me this is just weird to say no one took a short cut to the nationals and by the time oikawa went to Aoba they were way more better than karasuno. Everyone went to the team they wanted and competed to the best of their ability don't downplay other players just because you love one
@strictlyfootball78412 жыл бұрын
Plus b4 oikawa went to Aoba they were already a powerhouse school a top 2 school alongside datetech and shiratorizawa why didn't he go to a dead karasuno and try to do it "alone" like you said
@metta42709 ай бұрын
@@strictlyfootball7841Kageyama only went to karasuno because he got rejected by Shiratorizawa and Aoba Josai. He only picked karasuno because he thought the legendary coach Ukai would come out of retirement, and make them amazing. Nishi only chose Karasuno because he liked the outfits. Meanwhile Hinata chose Karasuno because of the little giant, and he didn’t know the state of the team. Nishinoya is the only comparable to Oikawa, both chose weaker teams because of their emotions.

My favorite line from Oikawa: "Dont ever forget my useless pride!"
@meemo8464 жыл бұрын
I totally glossed over Oikawa when he was first introduced bc I thought he was just the token heartthrob and barrier, but then I realized he is probably one of the most relatable characters to the audience. I used to work really hard at tennis for years and no matter how much training I did, I was never at the same athletic ability as the other girls on my team. Tennis is weird because you're also competing with your teammates a lot and you don't all play together, so it doesn't really feel like a team sport. The thing is, more training costs more money, I never felt like I was part of a team and in the end, for me, I just wasn't happy anymore it so I quit. Now I watch haikyu for that sense of comradery and teamship that I never got. I'm glad Oikawa keeps going and doesn't quit, I envy him for that.

Despite his teammates being "weak", I would say Seijoh was the perfect fit for Oikawa. One of the best aspects of Haikyuu is how each of the most prominent players are able to be who they are because of the team they play in. In Oikawa's case, he's a great player with an inferiority complex. Being faced with prodigy's reminds him of his lack of "talent." If Oikawa played on a team with as many talented players at Inarizaki, his ego might clash with his insecurity and he'd probably hit a wall. It'd be like that time in middle school, except he'd remain miserable. I don't mean to say that because Seijoh is weak that Oikawa can feel comfortable about never feeling weak, but it's that Seijoh knows that individually none of them are prodigies. This allows the team to be more grounded and focus on a team effort, which is exactly the kind of mentality Oikawa needed for his own talent to "blossom."
@rainfallen75743 жыл бұрын
I fully believe that if Oikawa was on teams like Inarizaki or Shiratorizawa, he would end up just like or very similar to Miya Atsumu with the levels of arrogance Atsumu has. Even WITH Iwaizumi knocking him down some pegs. If anything, along with Iwaizumi by his side, Seijoh was the best place for him to be his best self.

the brilliance of this character's writing multiplies a hundredfold once you find out how the manga ends and what furudate decide to do with him. oikawa went from best character to B E S T C H A R A C T E R. oikawa will go down in history as one of the most well written manga characters

great analysis! it's good that you pointed out the line "Come on tobio, give me your best shot." because both in manga and anime this was a defined moment. Though oikawa sees kageyama as a threat, he still sees him as his kouhai or underclassman. He checks up on him and gives him indirect tips that help kageyama evolve as a volleyball player. Even with season 4 cour 2, kageyama's serves are animated too similar with oikawa's. (referring that he's still influenced by him though he has met lots of talented setters) (This wasn't animated in karasuno's final point with seijoh) but during oikawa's iconic long set to iwaizumi, coach ukai explained that it must have took oikawa a lot of practices to navigate and familiar all sides of the court. Therefore, that long set he did was done perfectly because he has perfected his sets so much that its just instinct to him to do that seemingly "impossible" move. Obviously, ukai jr. was impressed.

Oikawa has never been a personal favourite of mine (he just never resonated with me) but his beauty as an antagonist cannot be understated especially in how he develops my favourite character in the series (Kageyama), great video man can’t wait for my Haikyuu videos in the future

Great analysis! Oikawa’s character added great depth and dimension to the story, and while re-watching the show, paying attention to his character arc enhances the story and other characters, as you reinforced, so much more. One of my favorites (probly the favorite) character in Haikyuu!! Cheers to season 4 returning! I’m also holding off on the manga until after this next season :D

Oikawa was not my favorite character. But over the course of the anime, I realised his character reflected upon the lives of so many people. Striving to perfect an art in a field we were not gifted in. And in the end he makes it to become best few. That's the life we should strive for, the life we should look forward to.

The fact that this analysis applies to us in regular aspects is heart aching. People with talents are recognized right away and are usually seen working at it. People with hardworking ethics are never able to surpass the talented hard workers consistently, and as a person relating to Oikawa, it hurts. Really bad. Losing after giving so much while others stand in the spotlight consistently develops that inferiority complex. That leaves you blind to all of your accomplishments. The logic, of being complimented when you think you did bad, leaves your mind entirely and you degrade your self worth. Something like this requires so much strength to keep going. In this way, i learn to appreciate the smaller things and enjoy those moments to at least be happy. I see that every day in myself, and it pains me.

Probably for Oikawa he realised what Kita said in later part of his life. Nobody is gifted as prodigy and the explanation behind that. When oikawa realised that and accepted the one-on-one challenge agaist all ,he just became the true monster.

Oikawa could have the GOAT if he went to Shiratorizawa. Not even meming. He was just that good and only needed a better team to fully bloom. Its crazy thats hes still getting essay made about him to this day.
