actually Khan himself is deeper than you think, he isnt relatable or sympathetic, but actually reasonable he patiently offers a chance for Jin to surrender many times, even points out the benefits for the people of the island (which is surprisingly accurate, historically speaking)

Jin gave ryuzo the same "honorable" death that his uncle asked for/got. If we take into account that a part of jin still very much believes in that specific honor code, or least sees value and meaning in it in certain instances (which he does), then he gave an honorable death to a man who has deeply betrayed him, and who had a direct hand in the brutal murder of an friend (taka). Like, jin would've been well within his rights to give him a "dishonorable" death, but he gave him the exact same treatment (down to he posture) that he gave his uncle if you chose that option.

The code of bushido also did not exist until 1900 and was retro actively applied to old samurai, the game takes place in 1257. They had to set it in this period because this is one of 2 times samurai were ever considered good guys. If anything they were more like knights. Rich bastards of nobles who tested their equipment on their servants.
@Peasham
@Peasham Жыл бұрын
And to be fair, the code of honor bullshit is basically stated to only be Shimura's thing, no other family follows his code, which could very well be considered historically plausible.
@kevinkijowski5980
@kevinkijowski5980 Жыл бұрын
The code wasn't formalized and officially called Bushido until the 16the century, but it was around before then. The idea of it developed during the Kamakura period in the 1100s. Also GOT takes place during 1274.

The best stories are the simple ones that are well executed. I do remember from an in-game letter that Khotun wants to conquer Japan in order to prove himself to be better than Kublai, the current ruler of the Mongol Empire empire and his cousin. It’s not much but it does give him enough depth so he isn’t a moustache twirling villain.

Ironically, my favorite character in this game is Khotun Khan, he is strategic and patient, when he killed adachi and taka, it's not purely out of cold blood and cruelty, it is strategic, the moment he killed adachi without honor, shimura charged head on without strategically thinking what to do next, and that's exactly what khotun wanted, he knows that by doing that, it will anger the samurai and can easily be baited. When he killed taka it is the same thing, it brings the emotions out of jin and I believe that's one of the major reasons why he completely embraced the ghost, and after that they had an internal conflict between the samurai, his uncle especially and the ghost, which means more exploits for the already weak presence of the samurai in the island, also he very diplomatic, he always say to jin and shimura about the unnecessary bloodshed just because they are too stubborn to surrender, he's brilliant and I respect him for that.
@blazedbeye3412
@blazedbeye3412 Ай бұрын
I get your point, but disagree. If he was that brilliant then he would've found a way to counter Jin and then defeat him. He ultimately had no plan for the Ghost and didn't adjust his strategy acoordingly. Him talking about the bloodshed is a bit ironic, since it was him and his army that was inflicting the bloodshed. If he truly studied the samurai, then he would know that they'd never surrender. So, him offering them that is a true sign of disrespect, not being a diplomat

I still want another Infamous game, but yeah, this was a good game on its own merits, even if there are a few...forced choices...I killed over 100 Monguls during the poison bit, but they will keep spawning from around where the milk is, it annoyed me, even if I understood WHY it needed to happen. Also wish the New Game + took you ALL the way back to the beginning, so you can fight Khan again on the bridge, and maybe even win there, before he cheats somehow, like ordering one of his men to hit you point blank with a Hwacha. Regardless, this game is fantastic, the DLC is one of the finest ever made in terms of content within, expanding the characters, and playing with the setting(Even if the cross over armors are all fugly as heck), and while I really did want some final big lore breaking cool upgrade, I'm fine with infinite smoke bombs and tearing through these dogs.

Life is not grey. If that were true, there would be no justice system and relativity would have existed from the dawn of time. The path to the results of our actions are never clear to most, and can take many turns, but the results will either be good or bad. Positive or negative. There is no such thing as actions having no consequence unless it doesn't involve you, but even as a society the actions of some can effect the whole depending on severity. The moral ambiguity mindset has led to more problems than solutions. One can steal bread to feed their family, but doesn't make their actions right. A judge, King or whatever authority can show mercy or not, but that is not "grey". Having complex emotions or making contrary decisions is just that, but most times personal choices are made or those that benefit the individual, if one wants to call that grey when a clear moral choice could be made.
