The PVC jerkin was still in use on Royal Observer Corps "cold weather" posts up until the ROC was stood down on 30th September 1991. I'll confess that I found them a bit stiff and impractical and suspect that the leather version would have been more effective.

For a theatrical production we rented some ww1 uniforms and and there was something like the modified ground sheet you showed. It had a rubberised outer and a lining that felt rather like corduroy. Warmest, most useful thing. Are you familiar with such an item? I’m wondering if I can find any more information.

From what what you've told me, it sounds more like a Private Purchase Officers Raincape. However, I shall have a look around and do some research and if anything matches it, I shall let you know. However, like I said, it sounds to me like a private purchase item.
