As much as I'm not a Jund Person, the Red Center of Jund is something I can *really* appreciate The consistent desire, nay need to do something, anything, at all times is something that I can understand wholeheartedly I especially enjoy the word choice of "the restless need to keep the body busy" is something I was really wowed at

As a proud Jund player, I can already tell I'm gonna enjoy this video. Edit: loved it, very much. If I might be allowed to summarize: Black-focused Jund is "history is earned." Red-focused Jund is just the poem To the Stonecutters, which is already my favorite poem. And green-focused Jund is Zane shouting "I know who I am!"

Jund is Rakdos with gasoline(liquefied dinos). It's the War Boys from Mad Max. "Witness Me" is the motto of the entire playstyle. It's my favorite of the 3 color pie just for how much fun it is to play and play against.

Amazing! Definitely a massive improvement over the first Jund video, and incredibly nuanced! I’d like to add some perspective of my own if that’s acceptable: I honestly see the Punk Movement as very Jund. Green manas acceptance turned towards the self by Black and made direct, loud and passionate by Red. The Punk movement is centred greatly around counter-cultural acceptance of one’s self fuelled by the dissatisfaction of a socially conservative (Azorius) society. The desire to be free from the chains others seek to put on them and others, along with a distain towards authoritarianism and blind acceptance of often oppressive authorities that always have ulterior motives. A lot of those who would be considered society’s outcasts are Punk; Racial minorities, LGBTQ+ folk, etc. The character of Hobbie Brown from Into The Spiderverse (literally called Spider-Punk) I find fits this description perfectly. Thanks for another amazing video Dice!

Basic farmer is a very interesting idea for Jund I never considered. Like we've certainly gotten Golgari "Rot Farms" before but it's also very true that regular ol' crop rotations fit into a very Jund philosophy.

I hope one day they explore a jund culture similar to the Celts - essentially a rock solid belief in reincarnation to the extent of living as fearlessly and as passionately as possible. Vaevictis Asmadi the Dire fits the philosophy of that so well.

I love this video, Jund doesn't get understood but this video speaks to what Jund is. The fears attack the willingness to sacrifice to be stronger, be one with oneself and land, and build in the simplest ways. Also creature type I think also represents Jund are Lhurgoyfs I look at the Jund deck from 2020, there was so much that it imbraced even though it was still missing some of the ideas it was Jund. Thank you for this video

Within the past month, I've come to view Jund as representative of a variety of "primal truths" that are inherent within life; truths that contradict cultural ideas. One can recognize these truths just by paying attention to the world around them, but we are more often than not blinded from them by our own deeply held beliefs. These truths are embodied in black (self preservation), red (carnal nature), and green (earthly existence). As opposed to the ideological fanaticism of white, and the over complicating machinations of blue. I also think it's time we get a new +1/+1 counter commander for Jund; a strictly +1/+1 counter commander. And no, vazi doesn't count.

One of the first magic cards I ever got was a box of Jund shard cards my dad bought for me off of Facebook, with it I tried to build a commander deck with Kresh the Bloodbraided. It never worked well for me, partly due to me being inexperienced, and partly due to me being much more mono-white who sometimes borrows other colors as a person. Even though it should be my anathema colors, I still respect Jund and look on it fondly.

Well this is exactly how my Thantis deck operates, both on and off games. I have a LOT of cards that could have a place in it, but they would have to earn it. Every time one of the cards that are in the 99 fails me and gets cut, I imagine the aspirants competing and fighting each other for the right to occupy its place, a place they would then have to defend And during games, the deck feels like everyone in it knows exactly what they are alive for, from the dragons and warriors that beat face, to the flimsy elves and spellcasters whose job it is to make that possible

I don't even like playing it against my other decks anymore because it just blows them away almost instantly. It actually makes my matches boring. I am watching these new shard videos and I realized that the mtg color philosiphy if paired with actual self improvement and motivation tools. it could be a force of good. A sort of secular self improvement philosophy that improves the world on the level of a religion. it seems to understand people better than any personality test. what drives us. what our motivations actualy are. it could be{as paired with actual tools of self improvement or guided} a forces that with that self knowledge help us change ourselves for the better. the irony being the hole thing coming from a card game not meant to do any of that... lol.

I feel that you leaned too Gruul and too little Black in your descriptions of Red and Green focused Jund. In Red you described a simplistic and emptional worldview, tempered with the willingness to build and the knowledge of one's place and the impermanence of things. But none of that is really Black. Green knows full well that what grows will eventually wither and what is built will eventually crumble. So your description fits just as well for a more settled Gruul person. For Green you took Green's standard outlook and gave it the will to act and to stand by its actions. Brashness and surety. Again, those are found perfectly well in mono-Red. So what you described is the Gruul wiseman and the Gruul leader. What I am missing is the reminder of how both of those are still more Black than standard Gruul. How a Green focused Jund still knows that its place is at the top or occasionally serving the top in order to become the top later. How a Red focused Jund still does what it does for hedonistic purposes and doesn't just accept that things are impermanent, but revels in being part of the reason for that impermanence. I think that one reason for such things is that the focus on the Riveteers is a distracting one. They are in my honest opinion a bad fit for their own color. Their own plane (New Capenna) drags them into the White-ness of functional city life. Here's what I mean: The Riveteers emphasize solidarity and service to a community. Those are distinctly White traits. They actively try to make life better not just for themselves, but for others like them, others who fit into the ingroup of rough, hard working people exploited by the elite. I see a lot of Boros in the Riveteers. They could have just as easily been Mardu if WotC had decided to make them that, without much in the way of reflavoring. I blame this on New Cappena's influence. It is a deeply Orzhov colored place and suppresses Green elements within. Both the Brokers and the Cabaretti care less about fate, tradition or nature than one would expect from Green and are willing to harm the outgroup and advance themselves over their fellow ingroup peers more than the supposed lack of Black would indicate. All leaders willingly participated in their own demonification and the draining of angels. They all set up the current system of crime and subterfuge. This is why the factions there, outside of maybe the Obscura and Maestros, are flawed examples to examine when it comes to tri-color organizations. Similar to how one should not ascribe a willingness to teach, learn and research to just any enemy pair just because they are institutions of learning and legacy in Strixhaven.
@fiendishmia506Ай бұрын
as a grixis enjoyer, i really dislike jund. i feel as if it takes every trait that can ensure one's thriving and happiness and throws it out for the moment, but even then i almost feel jealous of the fact that it finds bliss in (what i see to be) ignorance
@Brainlag7Ай бұрын
I feel like you kinda sold short Red based Jund and especially in New Capenna. For me it is obviously showing the desire for freedom and better life for everyone because it also sees the power in unity. A rebel fighting against injustice. A union of workers who are ready to go to war for their rights. Socialism definitely played a big role of inspiration to the designers tasked with the Riveteers.
