Ultimately, i don't know who my money goes to in the end so im giving it to whoever makes the models i want, licensed or not. Doesn't make a difference to me if a big name like Spoon or Supreme don't get their $10 or whatever from my purchase.

@abbiravindhran842415 күн бұрын
Your point? Hotwheels is licensed but do their models resemble the real car in ANY shape or form? Sometimes they are not even true 1/64 scale (ex Datsun 510). 🤣License is just a mutal agreement to allow another company to make their car as a diecast model.

As someone who worked as a copyright lawyer, I dont give a damn about if a model is licensed or not. The brands don't care about your experience or the quality of the products that have been licensed, so long as their bottom line looks good. You shouldn't care about their profit margins either. Just get whatever you like, they get their cut one way or another

Doesn’t help that many of these unlicensed brands have resin models (although much more expensive) far exceeds the licensed diecast in accuracy.
@modelcarshouston16 күн бұрын
True but as mentioned, quality does not trump legitimacy. Anyone with the ability can make a better product or superior product. It's just that in MOST cases, perhaps not as serious in diecast in others, they would become a legit competitor.

@ but Inno didn’t get the OK from Ferrari either…and out of the million variations of group A and group N R32 and R34, Inno only has licensing approval from Nissan, but not the brands on the livery… How about the wheels? Inno didn’t get license from Enkei or BBS either? I appreciate your stance. But I think your stance isn’t as clear cut as you make it sound.
@dharkann14 күн бұрын
Eh, 1/64 is small for resin models in my opinion. Even the best ones eventually have problem with their windows peeling off etc. So yeah, they might be "detailed" but they are definitely not as good as you think most of the time. LBWK Ferrari and RWB Porsche are exceptions for most collectors. Those brands do not allow so only option is having license from one side, that being RWB and Liberty Walk. Not much collectors can do about that.
@waiwong130414 күн бұрын
@@dharkann it’s a potential trade-off between long term reliability vs aesthetic. For my purpose, I personally cannot stand looking at a 1/64 model, even from a few feet distance, and immediately notice the silhouette and/or stance aren’t right, and that’s where my original comment came from. I rather have the best example available, and buy again in a few years if it fails. As far as collectors having no choice but to accept unlicensed Ferrari LBWK and Porsche RWB…that’s the small hypocrisy I wanted to point out, that he cannot present himself as having such clear cut principle, while knowing that he also makes concession on selling items that aren’t TRULY fully licensed.

I completely agree with you and I have had quite a few arguments about this with collectors who are very enthusiastic about the models being released today, many of which are unlicensed and of high quality. They are already producing a variety that is far more challenging than cars with pop livery. Luxury, racing and road cars that collectors are looking for. The legitimate companies with the licenses miss the point and prefer to release less good quality or engage in the great battle of "exhibition models". Unfortunately, the ones who are filling the gap are the unlicensed companies that release large quantities of models even if the quantity of the models is limited at a similar or even more expensive price and collectors are chasing them, because these models are in great demand.

*_Licensed vs Unlicensed_* Collaboration? It's not as if the actual car company gives the blue prints to the diecast maker. I grew up w/Hot Wheels who has a lot that are licensed but so what? Hot Wheels aren't true 1/64 and they aren't even the same scale within the family (Mini Coopers, Chevy Chevelle, Semi Trucks, Civics... are all out of scale compared to other Hot Wheels). A meticulous diecast company will create truer 1/64s than a "licensed" company that is sloppy like Hot Wheels. Asians are more fastidious than Americans.

Let collectors collect man. If you don't want to sell don't sell. Let people decide on their own. This same shit used to happen with most American collectors promoting HW over minigt and tarmac, and then it changed. Then it came for resin and non resin. Stop this non-sensical advocacy of "SUPERIOR" collecting item. Everyone knows that a RX7 with a Rocket bunny and supreme is not legit, but if people want to keep it let them be happy. PS. Not all GCD or CM model is licensed. So will you stop selling those.
