Buc-ee's isn't just a gas station, it's a movement, a phenomenon... an empire.
The history of this beaver is as interesting and unique as the stores themselves.
Come along on a journey and see for yourself in this mini documentary on the world's largest convenience store.

I’m not defending anyone because I don’t live there. But from what I understood is they were more worried the gas station would divert more traffic into their “quiet town”. Not so much what the place would do from an economics standpoint.

You think Bucee’s is really all that much better than Wal Mart? The only difference is scale. Bucee’s is smaller, but that doesn’t mean they’re good or they wouldn’t destroy communities for profit if given the chance

Many communities have protested against Wal-Marts coming to their town/cities. I have nothing against companies expanding but I am against million/billion dollar companies that have #CEOs making millions/billions while their employees are making near minimum wage. This in and of itself pisses me off. Your #employees are your company without them you wouldn't be the company you are.

First time stopping in a Buc-ees and I have to say I was very impressed! It was HUGE, it was CLEAN, it was active with people ready & willing to help. There were plenty of well-lit gas pumps and the price of gas was 16 cents less than the Gateway plaza at the next exit.

you're such a mark. The gas was cheap because nearly everything inside is overpriced except for the ice and the icees and the generic bottled water which are all a dollar or less. You did exactly what they expected you to do. You filled up and since there were 200 pumps you left the car and went inside and gave them real money. I went into buckees to buy gatorade and the white separatist couple in front of me bought 84 dollars of t shirts... that's not normal at a gas station.
@Road_Rash
@Road_Rash Жыл бұрын
@@billlexington5788 this is exactly it right there...their gas is not how they make their money, it's all the other stuff they have...larger convenience stores will actually lose money on gas just to get people in the store, because they know once they're in there, vast majority of the time, they're gonna buy something else & in a store this size, there's a lot of 'something else' to buy...

Two weeks ago, my wife and I traveled from central NC to Tampa. After stopping at the new Buc-ee's in Florence, SC, it worked out perfectly for us to hit the store in Daytona. Then on the way home, St. Augustine Fl and once again, Florence. It was a short trip for us but in all honesty, we spent more money at Buc-ee's than any other place during our trip, outside of our actual hotel. Great store.

Our adult kids excitedly told us about their first visit to a Buc-Ees, the one in South Alabama off I-10 near the beach exits. They were extremely impressed and bought quite a few items that they had not seen anywhere else. Buc-Ees is amazing! We have stopped at the one at Leeds, AL off I-20 numerous times and while traveling thru have stopped there with friends who had never heard of Buc-Eees. They were all quite impressed. Over 120 gas pumps, huge spotlessly clean bathrooms. There were about 16 men’s toilet rooms with full doors and at least that many sinks and urinals, lots of fresh food choices, decor items, souvenirs, name brand clothing, shoes and accessories, etc. Prices are good as well. The one in Leeds is across the street from a huge Bass Pro Shops and an outlet mall is across the interstate.

Housing here is now ridiculously high IF you find any thanks to investment firms buying up everything and doubling the price. Everything is higher now and most of our population lives in the Sevierville area. Every business is begging for employees. Buccees better pay very well and give fair schedules because otherwise, most available people aren't going to fight that traffic jammed up going to and from 407. The tourists have been unbelievably rude the past 2 years, too. 14 million visitors. Too much for a year.

The Buc-ee’s empire is a well-known chain of convenience stores located in Texas. It offers a wide range of snacks, drinks, and other items for travelers and local residents. The stores are famous for their clean facilities and friendly staff, making them a popular stop for road trips. Buc-ee’s empire has grown over the years, expanding to multiple locations across the state. The founders of Buc-ee’s started with a single store in Lake Jackson, Texas, and have since built a successful business empire. They prioritize providing customers with a pleasant shopping experience and high-quality products. Buc-ee’s empire has become a staple in Texas culture, known for its iconic beaver mascot and clean restrooms. The company's commitment to excellence has helped it thrive in a competitive market. In addition to its convenience stores, the Buc-ee’s empire has expanded to include travel centers that offer fuel, food, and other amenities for travelers. These travel centers provide a one-stop shop for those on long journeys, making them a convenient choice for rest stops. The Buc-ee’s empire continues to grow and innovate, remaining a beloved brand in Texas and beyond.

You missed an important differentiation for Buc-ee's over other convenience stores. They were known to ALWAYS have clean restrooms. So this made them a go-to when people went to the beach, fishing, or anywhere around town and needed to make a pit-stop. Then, while there, they would buy other things. It is an excellent model that not many have chosen to follow. Your 2003 mention is just when they started to explode into other regions other than Brazoria County, Texas.

@@seanb6478 bc they can't compete. Small business spark nostalgia to us, but corporatization is part of our larger destiny I think. As one industry becomes mostly, then entirely, corporate, new industries spring up by feasting on the dead and dying. Such is the Circle of Capitalism. It's economic Darwinism. But just like in nature, our market requires harmony and balance to be healthy. We should seek to promote an econ environment where fairness is paramount. But even more important now is probably Climate Change. Carbon footprint should've be a major focus of all govt regulation. It's a health and national security issue. Few things could be more important. If we do not change things, America's time will end. I fear I'll see it in my lifetime. I fear the Union will dissolve into a set of Confederations of States by region. But our regions are so mixed. My home, upstate NY will probably seperate from the City bc of the conservatives hating the liberal city. But the city metro has an economy the size of most nations. It would be even larger if it got federal spending anywhere near what it deserves. It produces 10x the amount of revenue that thinly populated rural states get but gets same or less in than those states in infrastructure spending. Bc a big ass state like Utah or Montana have hundreds of bridges and 100's of miles of interstates. That means endless millions in asphalt and heavy HW construction. But the Lincoln tunnel brings MILLIONS to work an back everyday. It's failing and needs (and deserves) a $10-20 billion rebuild. Trump blocked federal contribution it to punish HIS OWN HOMETOWN for not voting for him. Then Biden has to focus on Covid relief spending bc that was already trillions. The subway carries more ppl to work and back than several large western mountain rural Red states combined. The state gets saddled with helping to pay for the city, basically like a small nation. NYC might see that it pus far more in taxes than it gets in spending

You need to go deeper into the idea of Buc-ees. I actually live on Arch Aplin 3rds old family home place in Harrisonburg Louisiana. My grandpa bought the property from his grandpa Arch Aplin Sr. In the 1930s. The idea come from a store his grandparents had in Harrisonburg.

You may want to rethink that. Go look at their true hiring practices and five year contracts that include a “retention bonus” you have to pay back if you leave the job for any reason. Enough to bankrupt you. Most people don’t think about that until they realize five years is a LONG time.

Actually not ALL businesses go as far as they have with it. Most of those have absolutely no resemblance to the Buc-ee’s logo.
