Buck's music by this time had fizzled. His early to mid-1960s stuff was simply fantastic.🎻🎸

The late 1960s were wild and crazy times, and Buck was a voice of tolerance and peace. He was never a hater...far rather, a healer!

This was on my 11th birthday!! What a great birthday present it would have been, if I had known it was being taped that day!! I think they had only West coast showings. These didn't reach mid-west broadcast stations.

I don’t know why this guy stopped posting videos. His musics great. Hope he starts making more songs soon.
@jptaylor2 жыл бұрын
He probably stopped posting videos because they expose what a crime it was for Buck to have let Don Rich waste his amazing talent on this crappy show. The show started out amazing in 1966 with just Don and Buck. For some reason, as time went on, all these new faces and no-talents cropped up, diluting Don't presence. He looks miserable here. What a shame.

By this time, the Buckeroos had signed a promotion for Gibson guitars, Lord knows why. Also, Buck had left behind playing his early hits and new ones were becoming scarce. Yu can see that buck wanted to take his TV image more upstream and "current." I'm not crazy about Buck doing folkie covers. OK, leave the Nudie suits behind, and Don Rich could have updated his Tele sound with a fatter tone, but this episode rings hollow as is.
@chrisrsp20252 жыл бұрын
They should have stayed with Fender Tele's better sound in my opinion

Everyone has their hair combed over the same direction. Are they purposely trying to make all the men look exactly like Buck? They succeeded! Hilariously embarrassing.

I was an avid follower of the Buck Owens Show, but the absence of the steel guitar gave me reason to tune elsewhere. Big mistake on Buck's part. Without the Fenders and the steel guitar the Bakersfield sound just wasn't there.

Alvis Edgar Owens Jr., conocido como Buck Owens (Sherman, Texas, 12 de agosto de 1929 - Bakersfield, California, 25 de marzo de 2006), fue un cantante country estadounidense.

This is not the Buck Owens we're used to. Well remember that Hee Haw begin June 15, 1969. Meaning that the two syndicated shows were in conflict. The Ranch Hour had very limited regional viewers whereas Hee Haw had 15-20 million weekly viewers. Plus Buck was getting $400,000 for each Hee Haw season (13 episodes). This show certainly had no future and out of business simply stated. Hee Haw had it all over the Ranch Hour. Not sure who producer was here, but not in same league as Sam Lovullo and the Hee Haw crew.Further the talent very mediocre.

Not a fan of these slick 1970's shows. Too many pre-recorded instrumental and vocal tracks, too many shows cobbled together from pre-recorded clips. Love those first 4 seasons (1966-1969) when complete shows were performed live to tape.

Sad to see where Don Rich started at as Buck Owens' partner, to this video where he's a sideman anonymous guitar player, looking miserable. So under-appreciated and seemingly abandoned by Buck and in the role of bar band background musician. What a waste, and how lousy of Buck to have put him in this spot after only four years. Look at the videos of the first episodes of the Buck Owens Show in 1966 and see how amazing Don shines in those. Compare to these pieces of trash that do nothing but humiliate Don, relegated to playing guitar behind some mediocre no-name. Shame on Owens for abandoning such a brilliant as Don Rich. Rest In Peace, Don - You were amazing, and Buck Owens truly owes all his success to you. Without Don, none of it would have happened for Buck. This video is so painful to watch, Don wasting away his talent on this nonsense.
