The intro is literally exactly how I felt when I got my first laptop. It ran minecraft barely at a playable frame rate without shaders, if I wanted to play modded I had to stick with just a small handful of mods. Over the years I progressively got better laptops until eventually after I got a job and moved out of my parents house I took a wider interest in other games and built a proper PC.

You are not alone brother I had a gt 710 and i3 3220 for 4 years and i can totally relate to the pain. Although i was a big nerd so i managed to play every game i wanted with custom version of windows 10 (like atlas os) which are lightweight and also tweaking a lot of stuff. Gta v at lowest 720p 60 fps. Minecraft 200fps (with mods), hollow knight, celeste, subnautica and a bunch more. Mainly indie games but it was all worth the 100 dollar for that computer

I relate to this to an unreasonable level. Back in 2019 when my mom got the rig I currently have I didn't know better and got a Ryzen 3 2200g with only 8 gigs of ram and no gpu. Later down the line I got 8 more gigs, 16 in total and a GTX 1650. The GTX 1650 got fried and I now have an RX 6600, which unfortunately gets bottlenecked like hell because of the cpu w integrated graphics.

Start researching and build yo own pc. Depend on where you're at, you could get really good specs for really cheap. Personally I also started from an office laptop so I know your feelings. Rn I'm rocking a rig with an intel xeon E5 1660 (6 core all core oc'ed to 4.0ghz), Vega 56 8gb, 32gb of ram, 256gb ssd for boot drive and a 1tb hdd for data storage and games. I built it for less than $150, which is less than a third of my laptop's cost😭

We all start from somewhere man. back in my high school days (literally 3-4 years ago) My budget pc was a Dell Optiplex 9010 packin a Intel i5 2400, 12 gb of DDR3 ram, and a fanless GT 1030 in a Small Form Factor ass pc THE FANLESS version because the fan version was out of stock at the time and i wanted to game badly so i had to suffer for a year and a half after a while I sold office computers, flipped them on marketplace and got my current pc, a shittty Intel i3 10100, 32 Gb of DDR4 ram, and a RTX 3050 is it good? Noo but its better than what I had previous.

I recently upgrade from a prebuilt i7 8700 + 1050ti PC to a custom 7500f + 3090, and the difference is INSANE, games which I wouldn't be able to play on my old PC now get 100+ FPS, and games which I was playing at like 100 FPS now run at 360+. my first pc had a ryzen 3 2200g (no gpu, just intergrated) and 16gb of ram and 256gb of storage. built it with my dad and couldn't hold the light right, also used a 4:3 monitor from 2005 and it ran beamng at low on west coast usa at 30fps (most intense map) and it was actually bearable for me, when you go from 60fps back to 30fps it's like the shittest experience ever. still rocking the same ram and a gtx 1070 today (eww old gpu) and it runs amazing.

im currently saving up for my first ever gaming PC (getting real tired of being held back by a fucking plastic box) its over CAD$1100+ with taxes for the parts im getting, and ive got to save up like another 600 bucks for it. its genuinely going to be a pain in the ass for how long its going to take, but its more than worth it, after being on 3 xbox generations all my life. Poobox 360, Poobox One, then Poobox Series X. the Series X is the last console i will ever buy.

E GPU would solve the problem but, never used one since building a gaming PC is generally the better way to get a gaming PC. The best part about a PC is modularity, being able to change parts as I need. Rocking a 2070 I got on the used market, was in like new condition so got really lucky with it(After the second crypto mining boom for context). Will probably last me at least 10 year in total maybe more, depends when I feel the need to player a newer more poor optimised / demanding gaming that realises on the newer GPU frame gen / optimisation tech. TLDR is get an EGPU if you value the flexibility of a laptop but also want the maximum FPS from that laptops CPU(Depends if the laptop has a high bandwidth USB C port) or save and built a gaming PC(Cheaper long term with longevity). Also wanted to add that 1.0 Minecraft performs poorly on my PC as well, it struggles with high core count CPU even with optimised, it runs better on my old computer with 2 cores 4 threads and integrated graphics. I would be curious how well it runs the latest as I got around 60 FPS on my laptop which is an 8th gen I5 on integrated which it gets hot and loud since its not designed to be gamed on and favours quiet operation.

Integrated Graphics have come a long way since then. It's why most handheld PC's use them. You should get a laptop with either Radeon graphics (ryzen 6000 or above), or Arc graphics (Intel ultra gen). Those will allow you to at least play games like Fortnite, Valorant, and Minecraft.
