40 now, and everything is paid for. Fortunately, I had a college economics teacher who taught me a lesson when I was 18 years old. That lesson was: you can't buy something else for every purchase you make. Having multiple sources of income is prudent, as is living within your means. I have a 13-year-old vehicle because it is all I need, I like it, and I can do whatever I want with it. My net worth is $4 million, and I can pay my bills without stress, but I don't live like I have that. I have no complaints.

Vey accurate from your POV, It really isn’t about how much you save, it’s about how you manage your money. Whether you work to earn income or invest, it still boils down to income vs expenses, so yeah you may look into investment advisors for a strategy that suits your goals

This video is literally GOD SENT . A 3 day eviction notice brought me here. Although I did not get evicted I said this can never happen again. Unlike you I don’t feel sunshine and rainbows crunching numbers. But it is necessary to not live paycheck to paycheck and having a healthy relationship with money. Thank you so much for making this so simple and relatable . I see you take on the Dave Ramsey approach to finances which has kept me on track in past and I returning to it from this year forward. Thanks again !

Thanks for increasing my knowledge in personal finance and investment, I recently subscribed to your channel. I want to give a big shout-out to all those working tirelessly to earn a living and build wealth during this recession. My husband and I are both retired and debt-free, and we're living smart and frugal with our money. Despite the recession, we're still earning passive income thanks to our savings and investments in the financial market. Investing lifestyle has enabled us to earn a steady monthly income through passive means, and we're grateful for it;

Working with a skilled financial planner can be compared to having a mentor in the field of finance. I used to struggle to invest on my own and ended up losing money, but things changed once I started working with Claire Martha Magalhaes. She played a pivotal role in helping me improve my financial situation. Previously, I relied solely on my job and salary for income, but now I have found ways to generate additional income with ease, which has allowed me to leave traditional employment. Nowadays, I believe that investing is not a choice, but a necessity for anyone who desires financial independence and a good quality of life.

Well presented and extremely beneficial for any of us needing to get a reign on their finances. Most financial debt stems from actual financial awareness. You missed a lot of the power of the debt snowball spreadsheet. The only thing I modify on the sheet is, after the debt is paid off I tally all my payments and modify the original starting amount (principal + interest). This is because the interest calculation is not perfect for revolving credit lines due to days of month etc. (it works perfectly for a static debt like mortgage). You can use the schedule tab to see how much faster you can pay off if you can add a little more to your snowball that month. I hope users make more use of the spreadsheet.

I think there is a disconnect in budgeting on paper versus reality. I’ll think there is a certain budget for something but when I swipe a card or purchase online, it can be easy to think you’re on budget until the end of the month. I am removing my credit card from Amazon and linking my debit card. I also have a card only used for groceries. Do you have any other similar tips to bridge the gap of what technically works on paper and how to apply that in real life?
@SydRichi
@SydRichi 2 жыл бұрын
I try to minimize any disconnect as much as possible and make the budget reflect real life habits while also working toward money goals. After every purchase we make, the budget is updated to see where that category stands: Overspending in that area? Underspending? Depending on that, I'll adjust the budget--we can probably underspend somewhere else to help. I update/check the budget pretty often throughout a month. I'm also a huge fan of credit cards! I treat them like debit cards, so that helps with my spending behavior when using them.

Good for you Syd. Another fellow known as Caleb helps folks in their 20's budget and when he sees the mess they are in it is so heartbreaking. They have Student Loan Debts, Max Out Credit Cards, spend more than they make, want to keep up with the Joneses. For me I buy what I "Need" not what I "Want'. My only weakness is Dollar Type Stores or Amazon but I never spend if I don't have it

I have no one to blame but myself when it comes to my finances. I never was taught. I hate numbers/budgeting. It has been a major inner battle as it goes hand in hand with my family dynamic from when I was young. A diff story. But, I’m tired of feeling overwhelmed, frustrated and anxious when I look at my bank account. As a mom, I may be late, but better late than never. I don’t want to live like this anymore. I’ve started budgeting and it’s helping me see a clearer pic of where I need to cut unnecessary expenses. I’m going to meal prep more. Closing my audio stuff. Library it is. I’m going to buckle down and make it work whether anyone else wants to figure it out. It’s my life and I have to take control. I’m GOING to make and see changes. Consistency. In regards to this video, I like how clear and simple it is. Literally holding your hand from where to find a free excel without signing up. Explaining sections. Explaining reasoning why it’s categorized like that. I appreciate it. Just dumbing it down for an anxious mama.
