Thanks a lot Mark for putting our submissions in your videos! Also - Thanks for all your hard work and effort with making this videos! I would love to ride at the places you ride and build... South Africa just ain't the place for big jumpers and good/great trails... I try to build my own and your videos keep me motivated! I would love to ride/ live like you one day and make such great videos like you do! Lots of support here from South Africa!

I broke my collarbone right after you. I didn't do any jumping since February because of covid(all the industry rhetoric that said "no car no gnar not far" got to me).So then I wound up in the ER twice in short order after getting a wild hair to hit my backyard course in June and August. Both times it was an injury to the same shoulder area. For some odd reason I've had zero pain with the broken clavicle. Even when it happened it didn't hurt much. Getting the covid test hurts more. Unfortunately its displaced and not healing very quick. I'm at 5 weeks. I used a sling for week one only. Then doc said to use my arm for anything if it doesnt hurt. Now he says to use it even more and use full motion overhead, etc even though its still 2 separate peieces. Its not overlapped which is good, but it seems the average time for an adult to heal from a break like mine is 9 months. Now that I'm 30, I've realized I can't keep shredding gnar. I'm not a pro so I cant let my childlike passtime get in the way of my work. Doc said as long as I'm not doing bench press or push ups, I'm free to do whatever I'm comfortable with, so Im able to lift 50 to 60+ pounds at my job using both arms and it doesnt bother me, so I guess I'm glad I can still work and have no pain, but my gnar shredding days are over. Anyone want to buy a chartreuse 2019 Banshee Darkside freeride/park bike with only 1 easy ride around town on it? Supplest of suspensions with dvo 180mm up front and rockshock coil out back. 1x11speed Shimano. I bought it to ride a downhill park near me that shutdown permamnantly shortly after I bought the bike. I have nowhere else to ride it and don't plan on traveling for mtb trips or riding dh parks anymore. I've lost all my stoke and confidence for gnarly terrain and jumps. I went so long without riding because of covid that I lost my touch and my first 2 attempts back in the dirt ended in trips to the ER. This whole pandemic world just has me feeling weird about doing anything out of the house and especially guilty if I partake in a notoriously dangerous hobby. I still love watching this stuff, but instead of dreaming about how to do those things myself, I just enjoy it for entertainment and remember how great it used to feel floating through the sky after being launched unto the heavens off a moon booter! I'm always impressed with your trail work ethic and vision. Great job getting the stump gap stomped out! Can't wait for more footage of epic sends and tricks.

Oh man that recovery sounds like a battle! I had some struggles similar to that with a broken leg 7 years ago and when I started taking this stuff I noticed it really helped: www.gardenoflife.com/content/product/vitamin-code-grow-bone-system/ I'm not sponsored by them or anything. I always buy it in full price. I highly recommend it! Just be patient! As we get older recovery takes longer and it sucks and it's frustrating but you just need to work extra hard to get back into it. Im so stoked you are liking the videos! Thanks for taking the time to comment and share your experiences.

@MarkMatthewsMTB4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Richard! Build it more mellow than you think and spacing totally depends on the landscape your working with and trail style your going for. You have to ask yourself- Do you want it mellow/roller and bike park style, or steeper dirt jump/ bmx style?

you should try this lazer thing for your collarbone, i broke my left collarbone about 2 years ago then i was told about this special treatment so i went and tried it. It was expensive but if was truly amazing, i went from hardly being able to move my arm in a sling to having almost full movement within the hour of the treatment
use some cedar wood to get over sandy stuff and big roots

Hey Mark, I've been watching your videos for a while now, subbed ofc, I do love the content! On the other hand, I'm also having a startup channel, which I'm doing for pure pleasure, so feel free to check it out :D With regards to collar bone, which degree of separation was it? Or was it actually broken bone? Did they do any surgery? I had my left shoulder classed as separation degree III, which as they said didn't need surgery, and to be honest, it didn't really heal the best way. I'm fully functional, excercising, riding, but it gets uncomfortable laying on that side in bed etc..
@MarkMatthewsMTB4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Bojan! It didn’t need surgery but sometimes a metal plate speeds up the process. I was back riding quicker with a worse break that needed surgery. No metal in the body is nice though. How long ago was it? Sometimes it can take a year or longer to feel 100%
