I worked with Derek on the 420 awards! I did the nominees segments, sent them off to him, then he re-edited them, replaced some of the clips, added posters for no reason, and took out the audio from them for no reason despite the fact I made sure it was all copyright-free. Some of the audio he removed was also stuff I had snuck my own audio clips into, but I don't think he noticed, I genuinely think it's just a coincidence. What an absolutely surreal experience though, I did get a signed copy of the movie out of it.

If I remember theodd1 talked about the whole IHE VS Derek Savage fiasco in a video siding with IHE, where he also talked about Bible Birdie and made cover art for the book. The Creator of Garfield made Garfield to earn money, and has very deliberately controlled cycles of merch, releases and more to ensure people doesn't get burn out. He also deliberately made Garfield "unfunny" as in mostly he just attracts smiles and a "I know that feeling" relatability, specifically to never reach a high that people will judge all future content from. He created a commercialized cat from the ground up to specifically sell, and has managed to keep it mostly in the background but essentially always relevant. Well after seeing this video, here's my thoughts on Derek - Egotistical: This is the first thing that comes to mind when I think of Derek. Someone is literally just trolling his movie on twitter and he jumps on a twitter account that's supposed to represent a kids' character to bully them to fuel his massive and fragile ego. It's pathetic, really. - Manipulative: Another trait that lends well to Derek is the fact that he's manipulative. That whole part about him trying to get IHE's video taken down by *allegedly* illegally posing as a law firm is shitty to say the least. Also, the way he never put that 7K to good use is dumb, but then again nobody told those people to donate. - Boomer: He's a boomer. He tries to be "hip" and "cool" but fails every time and merging this with his fragile ego doesn't help his case. - Predatory: Yyyyeeeeeaaahhhh.....that last part about him coming onto people is disgusting. I think it's more the fact that his attempts to be "hip" are purely out of manipulation, not a genuine attempt to understand others (given away by the fact that he chases whatever the biggest issue is at the moment half-assedly and has no clue what all the memes he replies to really are, retweeting right away instead of bothering to do any research first). So around Derek's copyright standoff with Alex from I Hate Everything (late 2015), I made a very rushed and unfunny KZbin Poop titled "Cool Cat Joins ISIS Part 1". It's a very childish video that still exists out there somewhere, with the joke being how many references I could squeeze into the video, and mention ISIS as little as possible for irony. For a few months, it was able to remain up on KZbin and gained enough views for me to try a 2nd part to the video. Both videos remained uploaded for quite some time. They were really poorly edited and unoriginal, but they were gaining an unnerving amount of views. As a nobody, I was hoping they'd just get around 100 views and fade into obscurity. But I was worried that they would land on Derek's radar in the future, I just didn't know when. Then in early 2016, I had received a strike from Derek on the first video, so I privated the 2nd one immediately and waited for the first strike to pass by submitting the appeal that KZbin allowed back then (my legal information). I was a stupid teenager at the time and thought I could stand and fight on my little hill, thinking I was some kind of underdog that could win a legitimate legal battle with a grown adult. Eventually Derek's strike appealed since he never responded to my submission, so I un-privated the 2nd part of Cool Cat Joins ISIS. Very soon after, Derek struck the 2nd part down, so I repeated my actions of privating the first video, and appealing the strike. I thought I was dodging the system quite well at the time. Then in March of 2016, I received an email from Derek's exact Yahoo address from his website. It read: "So you like ISIS and your address is: *REDACTED FOR THIS COMMENT.* I wonder if the official ISIS websites have your address?" Derek had used my legal address at the time from my copyright appeal to send me this, and I took it as a threat. We had an argument through email, which I can share in a more proper time and place if anyone cares to see it, I tried my best to remember to archive this stuff. Basically in that conversation, Derek tried to scare me by saying he'll forward my information to "the FBI Terror division". I was freaked out for months because Derek had convinced himself I was actually a proponent of terrorism. Within the same day, he had some arguments on Twitter from friends of mine who simply asked why he struck the videos down. Within these arguments, he shared my name and address on Twitter publicly, and he was called out for it by those friends of mine. He has since deleted everything acknowledging me, and I have some screenshots from the ordeal. He also said he'll continue to post addresses from anyone else he wants to copyright strike in the future, which thankfully he never did. Now in the meantime, I'm not completely innocent. Like I said, I was a stupid teenager that thought he was tougher than he was. I made some update videos showing what Derek was doing and calling him out for it. There was a lot of inappropriate insults and name calling that wasn't necessary. It was dumb, wrong, and irrational on my end, but I doubt Derek or anyone that supports him even saw these videos. So it was all essentially Derek doxing me and threatening to dox others, and more fraudulent claims of legal action against others. It really made me fear for my safety to an extent. Thankfully, he's never acknowledged me since, even though I've continued to meme Cool Cat constantly over the years. Others have re-uploaded the Cool Cat Joins ISIS videos to KZbin and other sites, but I think Derek struck those down over the years. They're not even funny videos, lol, so a lot of people saw it as wasted effort on his end. Eventually my channel got struck down from other strikes, which may or may not have been from Derek, I cannot confirm. That's why I have the stupid "2.0" in my name. Now I don't think I have anything to do with this, but a few months after my channel and the ISIS videos were terminated, Derek uploaded his "SAVAGE CRIME Show" video, where he acknowledges some ISIS attacks of that year. I really hope I didn't get that far into his head, but if out little episode had any influence on him making that video, I wouldn't be surprised. Anyways, I'm so sorry for the wall of text. This was very cathartic to write, and doing so made me realize the errors of my ways from back then. Derek sure scared me, but I think he and I have both moved on and I'm very glad nothing horrible came out of it. If anyone wants me to elaborate further, I still have some stuff archived.
