Note that "clean-burning" just means nearly all the exhaust is carbon dioxide, rather than carbon dioxide and further contaminants. It's still not really eco-friendly.

One of those old impossible to find turbine cars would be better, they will literally run on anythijg flammable and liquid. They'll run on diesal, gas, kerosene, the Mexican president bought one and ran it purely off tequilas. There is a reason the Abrams tank uses a turbine, it really simplifies logistics.

Technically you dont even need a distributor with 2 cylinders, at least on a four stroke car. The Citroen 2CV did that, there simply will be a wasted spark at TDC.

In rural areas of the USA you used to be able to buy "tractor gasoline" which was 72 octane or something similar back when lots of old gas tractors were still in use that were designed for heavier fuel.

In the 1910s and 20s when the model T came out, gas was around 45 octane and so engines had around 5 to 1 compression.

I once got stuck in the middle of nowhere after a camping trip after my friend's awful 80s Honda ran out of gas due to a leak. We had a jug of kerosene in the back because of my kerosene stove and we poured it in the tank. That car drove for 40 miles on nothing but kerosene until we reached civilization, and the car lived another 5 years until the engine finally gave out.

It very much pleases me that when the petrol gets exceedingly expensive i will be just able to fuel it up with anything mildly combustible and keep on chugging along. @@FAB1150 Because it's very high octane. Quite a few fuels nowadays have some ethanol blended in, since ethanol is cheap and renewable. Some Brazilian engines can even run on E100, which you could (technically) safely drink!

Octane is knock (pinging) resistance. So a lower octane means the engine will ping easier. A higher octane fuel will put up with more cylinder pressure before pre igniting. (Higher CRs, boost, advanced timing) The reason is old tractors and cars will run fine on kerosene is because they have much lower compression ratios than modern engines. Although tony was clearly running very high cylinder temps, that's why he was dieseling so badly. 😂 haha... Fun video! 👍 keep it up!

I used to love those cars (Fiat 126 BIS here in the UK) when i was younger... the adventures with Tony have taught me two things: 1) I no longer want a 126 BIS. 2) Seeing Tony's tiny engine trying it's best to jump out of the bay and run for freedom, but always fall short, will NEVER get old!
