I think that for that engine to run good on ethanol you must leave the choke half open, or use bigger jets, because alcohol has a different stochiometric mixture with air, you need a lot more alcohol per unit of air volume to get it running. In other words running on ethanol requires adaptation of the fueling system, and the carb or the ecu map. What would surely work half decent is like a 50% alcohol 50% gasoline mixture in this bad boy. Anyways, nice video, very impressed that you got that Duch Puszczy in Australia.

Brazilian etanol vehicles run on 95% alcohol, so the issue here really isn't the fuel, but the air-fuel mixture ratios. The main innovation flex (Etanol + Gasoline) vehicles have is a gas exhaust reader that identifies the burning mixture and adjusts the ratios, but it kills a bit of the efficiency you can get out of gasoline. On the other hand, if you had a bit of gasoline in the mixture (Like 20%) I bet it would run even on the 88% alcohol.

6:16 try drinking it without coughing! Tony has all reasons to cough. Not just the timing, but you need to change the air and fuel nozzles in the carburetor. Tony will happily on pure ethanol. To get best results, you should also increase the compression ratio, because ethanol has an octane number of 108,6 (RON). Higher compression will also help with the fact, that ethanol has less energy by mass, so you will not loose as much power as running ethanol on an unmodified petrol engine. Also, you do not mind about methanol in a moonshine that goes into a car, so you can simply distill both methanol and ethanol into a single blend, as long as it is at least 95% alcohol (some water will remain). The main problem with alcohol fuel is that it is hard to start in colder temperatures and you need to heat the carburetor or it might freeze up. Evaporation of alcohol needs a lot of energy and it takes it from the air. Water vapor in the air promptly condenses and can build up on the freezing cold walls of the venturi tube and intake manifold. You can use electric heating initially and then use the heat from the engine itself (either from liquid coolant or exhaust heat).

Coming from a Pole, Spirytus is meant to be mixed with things to essentially make 80-90 proof liqueur. The spiciest of spicy waters

My grandpa back in the 40s was out drinking with friends ran out of gas, and they poured their beer in the tank to get home. But that was a Model A, a tractor engine with unintentionally variable compression.

I was surprised the 88% didn't work. In the states, we have 85% ethanol fuel branded as "Flex Fuel"

As an American, hearing e85 described as it's a new, foreign concept is like throwing me into a Twilight Zone episode

Greeting!! As a resident of the fine island of Ireland, I find it funny that the first time I see dingle distillery is from an aussie youtuber, trying to run a banger of it🤣🤣🤣🤣

Tony reminds me of my father, with the unhinged abuse of alcohol and the rope being the only thing that finally takes him away

Goddamn that sounds rough, I'm sorry your father was like that

@@supersillysammy272 hey so, if this was a heartfelt reply, I appreciate the support but I'm sorry. I just felt the opportunity to crack a joke at dark stereotypes, it didn't happen. I love my father (most of the time lol) and he is very much in my life (as of writing, I helped him with bolting in the seats in an old car like 30m ago) and at most he gets a little too happy to talk about how whichever son in particular he's talking to is a little bit of a failure in some way after a couple of glasses of wine. Yeah

Tony is just like me: the higher the alcohol level, the better he runs.
