There are so many parts of his story that just don't add up. I think he took a tiny bit of truth and then embellished it so he could play the victim. It is heartbreaking to see any animal mistreated, but when you are a cat lover it makes it worse. I see how you look at your precious baby with such love. I had to say goodbye to my 21 year old kitty last Summer. Her little body just wore out and nothing else could be done. There is an excellent Ted Talk on KZbin about pet grief. The part about the Chihuahuas being seen before Jasper. Maybe it was simply an emergency. Last Summer one of my dogs ate a bee and went into anaphylaxis. I called the vet and they said, 'Bring her in. Right now.' So I picked her up as she was shitting and puking simultaneously where she lay, carefully put her in the car and went down to the vet. We were shown straight into one of the waiting rooms. No fuss. No drama. Subtle, but immediate. The rest of the people waiting in the waiting room will have seen us go straight in before them. It's a shame Phil wasn't there, complaining to the 17 year old vetinary assistant about me going in before him, because the way I felt at the time I would have merrily dragged him out into the road and kicked his teeth down his throat.

The sad thing is that if he wasn't such a (British word starting with "c") he could have politely said to his vet "I'm a bit strapped for cash, is this really important, that's a lot of money" and any vet I've been to would have explained what everyone in this vid is saying, that it's important to prevent issues from getting too bad. I have an eye doctor who likes getting all the new fancy tests and equipment, and really does like to "upsell" and ask if I want all these tests that probably aren't super important. Even with him, I've asked him "What do I need here?" and he'll say these three are required and these others would be good but I don't need them this time because I don't have these signs yet. Doctors are people too and understand stuff isn't all free. I honestly think his vet would have been well within their rights to say if he won't get required preventative care he needs to find a new veterinarian. Especially since if he's this toxic about it when he is telling his story totally one sided I'm sure he was more of an asshole in real life.

This is after he likely woke up at 10 AM. He was so salty about waiting 75 minutes for a pet to get an extensive checkup that he more than likely threw a tantrum in the car after doing grocery shopping (or during it) and his mo-wife had to go "Honey, let's just go home." instead of getting pet supplies, going out to eat, and doing whatever else they do.

A lot of surface level showing off about how good the cat is treated, but in reality no money is spent on the animal’s welfare, it’s desperate for attention and stimulation, and the cat would be abandoned on the side of the road if they could get away with it. Based on DSP’s treatment of Jasper and my association with narcissistic pet owners, I 100% believe DSP released his hamsters into the backyard where they would be promptly eaten by owls or he forgot to feed them and they starved to death. DSP is too lazy to make thumbnails for his business, but I’m expected to believe he’ll take care of hamsters? Not a chance.

After you pointed out that Phil must have done *something* to make the vet/staff take Jasper in w/o Phil/Kat, and that it must have had something to do with how Phil reacted toward the vet -- it made me remember how he acted towards the hospital staff during the "Panda emergency situation". With him somehow getting the nurse/staff to bring him sandwiches/snacks, I think there is more to what you might have hinted at. I used to think Phil is the type of guy to "suck it up" in situations where he *thinks* he's been "wronged", but I think the wait actually got to him this time. He must have done something that made the staff determine that this guy should not be allowed in with the vet. Bc. this guy might start making unnecessary demands or some such (might be a bit off base here). I def. think there is more to this particular part. The staff, receptionist, or vet, must have noticed that Phil was "giving them the looks" (e.g., angrily glaring at them). Potentially to the extent that someone determined that it's best to attend to Jasper without any unneeded distractions (a.k.a: we don't need an angry "gamer" to start demanding free lunch or vouchers or make unnecessary verbal attacks, JUST because we happened to have a busy day, or more crucially unhealthy pets to take care of.). 'Nuff said. *DX crotch chops*

Also let's just put the pet aspect aside for a second. Humans get preemptive bloodwork done, also. Judging by Phil's reaction, he doesn't even get it done for himself.

Finally!!! Lol. You put them out, I'll watch them. Thanks for all the work both here and on your podcasts. EDIT: I'm sorry, it's wildly obvious to me what's going on with the vet in the sweat suit. I think it's pretty obvious that she had a dog or cat have violent diarrhea and or vomit all over her work clothes and probably her hair which is why her hair was also wet and she needed to change of clothes. That's probably what was happening that took the extra amount of time as well. Phil has no fucking empathy or concept that other people have situations that happen in their lives. As far as he's concerned, he's the only one that anything difficult has ever happened to. It continually blows my mind over the almost decade that I've watched him. Smh.

Watching this after seeing how easily Phil dropped over $400 on new toys for himself this week, it's disgusting. People called him out. And he tries to handwave it all away as if he isn't neglecting his cat. I don't care if his supporters believe his BS - most of them are hopeless, anyway. But he's shown who he really is: selfish and irresponsible.

This whole saga pissed me off more than Phil usually does. I've got an almost 17 year old cat with kidney issues and she obviously requires more frequent vet visits. I've also lost a cat to cancer a few years ago. I probably spent over $10,000 (close to maxing out my credit cards) on cancer treatments just to make sure he could stay healthy as long as possible. Phil whining about a $300 test because "he's not sick" is ridiculous. If it weren't for a $300 test, I wouldn't have caught my cat's cancer and would've lost him sooner.

As someone who lost their dog after 16 years, this infuriates me how a simple visit to the vet is a nuisance.... I'd do anything to see my dog again and give him a hug. Hey Steve, do you think there's any validity to the train of thought that Phil views all interactions as transactional in nature? Like he's almost incapable of viewing any human interaction as just occuring, they all have to be weighed in accordance to what he can take/give?
@ArchangelSteve Жыл бұрын
100% yes, that's a core trait of narcissism so I absolutely believe we see it with Phil.
@PlayingWithYourBeliefs Жыл бұрын
This was one of the most awful things I've ever seen Phil talk about, and think about what sort of ground that covers. It's painfully obvious that Phil doesn't view Jasper as a pet. He views it as an obligation. Yes there are obligations to having a pet but the idea that he viewed BLOODWORK as an UPSELL, like he just got a new car and complained that the dealer tried to sell him on Simoniz GlassCoat, is enough to make me want to do something I can't mention on here. YEARS without bloodwork is insane. That combined with the story of the cat vomiting "for attention" and not being to use the litterbox because it's overflowing with waste makes me just shake my head in disgust. I didn't have my first real pet (by real I mean one that wasn't contained to a closed environment like a cage or tank) until October 2019, which is my Beagle/Chihuahua mix Lily. Like Phil, I really only got her to shut up someone in my house, being my oldest daughter, who had been (no pun intended) hounding me for years for one. Growing up my parents never let us have a pet, so this was my first real experience with one. It didn't take long for Lily to become a true member of our family, as opposed to just another mouth to feed. When I hear Phil describe Jasper, I sense no feeling of love from him. Isn't one of the big things about being a pet owner is wanting to make your pet feel happy? I always smile when I ask my dog if she wants to walk because she goes nuts with joy because she likes her walks. I love scratching her behind her collar because I can tell she enjoys it by her goofy smile. He gets no joy by doing even the BASIC things for Jasper. It's just another thing he has to deal with instead of playing games badly and/or getting drunk. And from the sound of things, Kat isn't picking up the slack either and has also checked out even though she seems to be the reason the cat is there. This whole thing is just awful. Jasper is clearly not doing well but there isn't anyone there that cares more about that cat than we do, which is so sad. I just hope that Jasper gets saved before it's too late.
@ArchangelSteve Жыл бұрын
Yeah, completely agree mate, even in the pantheon of stupid shit Phil's done, this one's bad. He really doesn't care about Jasper, he doesn't see him as a living thing, for him Jasper's an object like a car, something that needs maintenance every now and then but otherwise should be working fine and not need much input or care. When I think of my cat, I think of stuff like her lying curled up asleep on my lap, licking my nose to wake me up because she's hungry, absolutely murdering a catnip-soaked toy, or howling outside the bathroom because I've dared to want to take a shit in peace. I think of how much I love her, and how much she brings to my life, and how I will keep talking to her even though she's deaf just because I don't want her to feel like I'm not. There is NONE of that from him about Jasper.

Do you think Phil got the cat with the intent of having a mascot for the stream? I thought the general consensus was that Phil didn’t want a pet and Khet insisted. So Phil said “might as well use him to get money.”
@ArchangelSteve Жыл бұрын
Maybe, I think that thought occurred to him at some point before he actually got Jasper, but yeah, pre-2KJ reveal he mentions that it's mainly Khet who wants a pet if he's asked about pets on stream. He also mentions that his parents we weirdly insistent on him getting a cat as well, which I think is his Mum hoping he warms up to caring for something and she ends up getting a grandchild after all...
@Funky_D Жыл бұрын
I think the reason why they weren't allowed in the room with jasper is that they probably made a big fuss while he's been examined previously. As for the vet asking about the bloodwork, the vet probably previously advised Phil before and he thought fuck that, I ain't paying that much.

Time to get Phil on consistency. He shits on the receptionist for stuttering her words and using that as proof of what she actually meant. Phil's words, and I quote: "The vet comes back again-well does-*never* comes back! We never saw the vet again!" So we can confirm, using Phil's own logic, the vet indeed came back, Phil just wants to make up a story for some reason he's not saying.

DSP thinks that he avoided getting scammed by not getting his cat a blood test, the only way to tell if anything is wrong with the cat. But he gets his cat, that never leaves the house and the only way Jasper could contract rabies is from either Phil or Kat, a rabies vaccine and doesn't think he got scammed there.
