I walk through the busiest NYC Subway Station: Times Square-42nd Street/Port Authority Bus Terminal.
From Wikipedia:
"Times Square-42nd Street/Port Authority Bus Terminal is a New York City Subway station complex located under Times Square and the Port Authority Bus Terminal, at the intersection of 42nd Street, Seventh and Eighth Avenues, and Broadway in Midtown Manhattan. It is the busiest station complex in the system, serving 64,531,511 passengers in 2016.
The complex allows free transfers between the IRT 42nd Street Shuttle, the BMT Broadway Line, the IRT Broadway-Seventh Avenue Line and the IRT Flushing Line, with a long transfer to the IND Eighth Avenue Line one block west at 42nd Street-Port Authority Bus Terminal. The complex is served by the:
1, 2, 3, 7, A, E, N, and Q trains at all times
W train during weekdays
C, R, and 42nd Street Shuttle (S) trains at all times except late nights
7 express trains during rush hours in the peak direction"

How did a complex like this ever get built . . . and underground? It's massive, a labyrinth! I've been on two very short trips to NYC and only taken a few rides, but it's just fascinating how this subterranean network exists.

Thanks for this video. Because I visit NYC every year I do recognise almost every corner; very recognizable. Also the announcements. But it's like a labyrinth and a tangle of trains and platforms on multiple levels, if you're there for the first time. And long corridors. I not even talk about the high temperatures. Great Video.👍 Today i saw subway-station-tour-videos of london and nyc. Amazing, how the station-architecture is so different. Both very interesting. The ceiling between different floor in nyc looks very thin. Impressive that this withstands heavy subway trains, which drive about it. Greets from NRW, Germany. The subway-stations in my town are tiny compared with this one here.

What comes to mind is really good quality video. Also , I'm flabbergasted that for your entire video, I did not see one Transit Police on or off the train. How is it possible that there aren't any police presence in such a vast and busy system?

I remember back in the day (and that means the 1980's and the 1990's - yes I am THAT old ;) ), filming or videotaping in the subway was prohibited. But with todays smartphone technology, practically everybody has a videocam in his/her pocket. So I guess they changed the rules or refrain from enforcing them (which is good for us, because that enables you to make videos like the above). Thanks for taking the time making the walking videos - I frequently visit your channel :)
@b.griffin317

it is still illegal, but almost never enforced, like so much in the city.

Look up a KZbin channel called 5ninthavenueproject. A guy named Nelson Sullivan used to film a lot of videos in NYC back in the 80s and almost all of his videos are on that channel. There’s even a video of him going to Coney Island on the D train I think.
