Tim Conway always had this way of improvising to take the scene so much further than I imagine the script called for. The tidying up the table so after shooting him self so he would fall in a « proper » way was just the cherry on the top if you love cherries

I remember watching these when they first aired and all I can say was thank god for commercials. The commercials were there to help you to regain your composure and to whipe the tears from your eyes so that you can start all over again. I watch a skit like this one (and believe me, I’ve watched this particular skit a bunch of times over the years), and I wonder why Saturday Night Live can’t have sketches like this. This sketch is always funny and doesn’t rely on vulgarity or anything like that. It really is timeless! Some of the sketches on Saturday Night Live are funny, but none seem to rise to this level of comedic sophistication.

I wish I could see my favorite skit again. I loved the one where Tim was a doorman in a fancy hotel. He wore white gloves and couldn't open the door. He climbed up on the doorknob and slid upside down. It was so funny.
