So sad that Clarence died and seems the Byrds died with him. That brief reunion of the original band in ‘73 didn’t yield much. Who knows where the Byrds would’ve gone had Clarence not left the world too soon?!

Give that reunion album more chances. I didn't like it when it first came out, either, but it has really grown on me.

The Byrds broke up before Clarence died.

A strong acoustic version. I've always liked Gene Parsons's vocal on this tune, and Clarence's lead work is exceptional. The harmonies are very good (not always the case with the McGuinn/White/Parsons/Battin line-up). To me, it's one of the best live covers by the late-period Byrds.

parson's cover on his solo 'kindling' is very good ...

Are you kidding? This lineup had tighter live harmonies than the original lineup, and it ain’t even close.

Look, this has a great vibe, no doubt. And Clarence White is my favorite guitarist. But I have to say I take issue with the liberties they took in the chorus, changing the chord progression around a little. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! But it’s good, and just a warm a sound and vibe as could be. I just think they ought not have tinkered with the chord progression like that, it’s sacrilege to do so

They recorded BEFORE Little Feat. If it ain’t recorded, it’s all yours

@@GreenMountainVelvet Little Feat’s debut was in ‘71. This album was in ‘70. Lowell handed Clarence a cassette tape with a demo of Truck Stop Girl and Willin on it in early ‘70…who knows how it sounded on that!

I love the Byrds, but this is nowhere up to the level of Little Feat or Linda Ronstadt.
