Not built on the same assembly line (factory), nor the same platform. Lyriq is made in Tennessee, which also makes the Acura ZDX. Those are the same - effectively twins. Conversely, Blazer is made in Mexico, same as Honda Prologue twin. Blazer has a smaller battery than the Lyriq, and different drivetrain options. All are the Ultium architecture, but are flavors of the BEV3 platform.

@acfiv14213 ай бұрын
All I thought while seeing these cars are "tons of things to break" Even the f'-ing door handle was giving Hoovie problems. Why the f- would you want to convert a normal door handle to an electronic gizmo? When this car is 10 years old, these things will be worthless, as all the gizmos are failing, spare parts will be insanely expensive, and the battery will have maybe a quarter of the mileage available. Basically it won't be worth the expense to fix it up - ready to be junked at 10 years.

@@acfiv1421 that's all modern mass produced products these days. planned obsolescence is a bitch.
@acfiv14213 ай бұрын
@@algnedpe7271 It's worse than that. A normal car, properly taken care of, can easily last you 20-30 years. At which point, you might have to rebuild the drivetrain, replace worn out seals and other plastics, and you'll be good to go for another 20-30 years. Now they are building cars that will be uneconomical to repair. Assuming no inflation, If you buy an EV for $60K today, in 10 years you (or the poor sucker you sell it to) will have to pay at least $20K for a new battery, and maybe another $10-20K to replace the mammoth infotainment screen (if they still make them) and the over-engineered door locks etc. - why would you pay almost the value of a new car to refurbish an old one (and HOPE that you solved all the problems).

I have noticed that when talking about EV's FAST is always the big deal after range. I don't mind driving fast, but for the most part you cannot drive them any faster than the traffic around you. I am not in favor of air suspension or AWD which our Lyriq doesn't have, although the Model S does have a slightly better ride because of air suspension. No Tesla has a luxury interior while Cadillac has been designing those for 120 years or more and the interior of the Lyriq wins hands down. The GM Supercruise is more positive, as is the overall handling of the Lyriq. Pricewise, the upgraded Lyriq was about the same as the Gen 3 Model S, so it's maybe not as value priced as some think, considering the advantages of the Model S. My wife wouldn't drive the Tesla but loves the Lyriq which has a lower front and is easier to understand.

April's sexual innuendo's replacing Wizards usual corny play on words is a bit concerning, as in when April said: "It's not like a fat guy sitting on your face" or "(Lyriq) Doorhandles like taking the blue pill." Thank God Hoovie is such a pro already at what works and what doesn't work that you can see that by him ignoring all of April's overt sexual 'car' remarks hopefully (by reviewing) she will learn what works and what doesn't. Now..., for the positives April brings, which are many, because IMO, she does offer a lot. She impressed me with her own perspectives. I like her (obvious) female POV on what females see in cars. Very nice. She is excellent there. The fact that she is eye candy..., and knows it, helps Hoovie. I like them both, just tone down April as sex predator while keeping her in tight ANTHING(!) Just for clarification- Audi’s will also put the gps directly in front of the driver full screen. And they’ve got the gimmicky headlight animations.

Thank god virtually no other carmakers copied Teslas obsession with everything being controlled via a touchscreen. Absolutely loathe it; give me physical buttons and dials every day.

I got a picture of my wife setting in the beautiful red Lyriq right before Christmas, it had a giant red bow on top. We both loved it but it was just too big for us same for the Blazer. We are patiently waiting for the Equinox and the Cadillac Optiq. GM may be late in the EV game compared to Tesla but they are Elon’s, I mean eons ahead in style.

That back wing areo has been around from the 70's. Station wagons had them to stop dust landing on the rear window.

I'm not a fan of the Full Glass Roof on any car since a Hail Storm 2 years ago. $1.3K not covered by car insurance. I hope the Caddy (all of them)has a Glass delete option?
@mikelemoine42673 ай бұрын
It sounds like your insurance company screwed you. They know by the VIN what options the car has and they know sunroofs, pano roofs and convertibles can get trashed during hail storms. Even metal roof cars can get banged up. I had a Ford Thunderbird back in the 90s that got hail damage on the hood, roof and trunk lid in a storm and they quoted $4700 back then to fix it. I cashed the check and bought another one, and kept the damaged one as a beater for work. Nowadays, the insurance companies would just total a car with any significant damage, whether glass roof or metal. They get so much for them at the auction due to exporters, rebuilders and parts scarcity that they end up coming out ahead by totaling them instead of fixing.

The Honda Prologue is built on the same platform. I got the VW ID4 because I don't want version 1.0 of a car. The ID4 had been out for a few years and had 2-3 iterations to improve. I like the way the Prologue looks more than the Blazer, I like Camaros but I don't think everything needs to look like a Camaro. The Cadillac does look great though, the motor compartment looks really well done! Ford should take notes.

These vehicles should be easy for GMs owners to use as they are very familiar to folks who previously owned GM products. I hope that GM comes clean soon and reports what it costs to produce these vehicles. If they are doing as badly as Lucid, Rivian or Ford from a profitability perspective, it may be difficult to ramp up production which is badly needed to gain the economies of scale that are so necessary to enable profitability. Bravo to GM for getting these products to market; the more competition in the EV sector the better. Now, let’s get on with ramping up production.

I have a CT6 sport w/supercruise and have been very much looking at the new Lyriq. I'm really close to pulling the trigger. The seats are exactly the same, and the ride is even better. The acceleration is close (3.0TT vs Dual motor version). The main thing I don't like is I prefer sedans. I admit I'm also a little hesitant for all EV. My wife has a Yukon XL for all our SUV needs, and my winter beater is a true survivor that shouldn't exist. A Buick Rendezvous 3400 with 300k and counting. Next time I comment I may just have a Blue Lyriq with the white/grey interior!
