The Badgers have to recruit a dual threat quarterback. They struggle to recruit NFL arm talent, but a dual threat QB might be within their reach. Nick Saban said if you are going to be a big time college program you either need a QB with NFL arm talent, or a dual threat QB. The guy we have now is neither

Bad interseption , too many dropped passes . If caught, could have kept the drives alive and possibly added points. Hoping that Locke can stay under control and lead us to a victory vs Iowa. offensive scheme is lacking...good coordination makes all the difference, see Indiana, Kotelnicki at Penn State or oregon

When you line your QB up in the backfield on every play you are a throwing team by definition so the fact that we're still discussing 'what is our offensive identity?' in year two is beyond frustrating. Wisconsin has to find a QB who can run this offense in the portal and that means the AD had better get some booster money lined up that is willing to pay the going rate and a coaching staff that will promise transfer candidates we are going to throw the ball and then throw the ball some more. If they don't do that, Zach is probably correct in speculating Coach Longo will not be here calling plays. If that turns out to be the case, then you really have to ask Coach Fickell point blank, 'what the hell were you thinking when you hired Coach Longo?'. He had to know exactly what he was getting when he made that hire; there are no two ways around that question.

EVERY single good team in college football have good to great D lines, the badgers D line/LB's get manhandled against EVERY single good team they play, until that gets addressed, you could put Michael Vick at QB and it isnt going to make any difference in Ws vs Ls

This is true, you need good D-line play to be competitive (and to allow the LBs to make plays) and the Badgers don't have enough serviceable linemen to play a full game against strong offenses. It's also a position that is almost impossible to improve through the portal and it takes a couple of years for most high schoolers to progress to the point of being able to play. That said, they don't need those guys to beat Iowa or Minnesota if they don't beat themselves on Offense. Don't turn the ball over, don't drop passes, don't miss open receivers, don't get called for stupid penalties. I don't think it's reasonable to expect Wisconsin to be a top 20 team for a couple of more years, but they can and should be able to beat teams ranked 30+ if they play well.

Blame the QB for throwing a pick, absolutely. But, from both sides of the ball, that was as vanilla a game plan as I have seen. There was more sophisticated pass routes in the high school playoff game I watched at Middleton. Penn State played a 3rd string QB, and there was nothing unique about the defensive scheme. The biggest changes that have to take place going into 2025 is get some actual coordinators.

Mettauer needs to play. Love Locke but he has proved he isn't ready yet. GIVE YAC THE BALL. Coaching has been very underwhelming as well.

Zach's standard for a Badger quarterback is unrealistic. Think about the last pass Jordon Love made in the NFC playoff. Terrible decision, classic textbook quarter back error. The best players make stupid plays. That's football.

James franklin really went into locker room on the road, down 10-7 and still was sure they would win with the back up QB in. They punked us. They didn’t respect us and it didn’t matter. Every player needs to play pissed rest of year otherwise they’ll be punked again

I think you have to give longo more time. Tbh, I didn't feel like much of anything was working against Penn state - I felt we were more getting lucky than anything. But, it can work if we have the guys to do it, which we currently don't.

We have a coordinator prob not a QB prob. While Locke has limits it's up 2 coaches 2 put him in best position 2 win. Throwing over middle on our goal line with the is obviously not it 4 Locke. Manage the game & players correctly (SEE PSU Andy Kotelnicki a home grown guy btw, PLAY CALLS 4 BK UP QB) Where's the famous 4 yd out or halfbk swing, bubble screen or run, run clock & give ball 2 our best off player who had best chance 2 win game 4 us...punter. No plan at all on how 2 win a 10-7 13-10 game or big time B1G brawl. PSU literally waiting & laughing at the play calling in 2nd half on the goal line. PSU did exactly what all fb people saw happening in real time, sat bk conservative play calling on rd, with bkup QB, punt & wait 4 over aggressive play calls. Longo gift-wrapped game to em. The coaching was flat-out embarrassing & exactly what PSU expected (& made halftime adj 4) Absolutely no plan how 2 win a game wit lesser talent. Sorry but blatantly obvious observations & since my take has no income ramifications I'll repeat it 4 ya. Being aggressive with inferior talent is a fool's play, virtually every time. In a yr & a half, we haven't beaten a team wit a winning conf record. Certainly, not the 20 million $ upgrade we've got the reciepts (& new bills) 4. We need changes & need them now & they changes aren't needed from transfer portal (we have to many useless receipts from there as well) Hope is never a good strategy & sure as heck not a 20 mill/yr strategy!! Always On Wisconsin!
