the thing is, back then, popular shows were "coincidentally" canceled all the time, for no reason other than being "too expensive", once they managed to reach the number of episodes to go to syndication, at which point they could just coast off of the earning that would rake in, becasue people still CRAVED that show. the show had to be EXCEPTIONALLY POPULAR, AND have a toyline, AND video games to go along with it, for that to not happen. the only reason that doesnt happen now days, is because "syndication" is no longer really a thing thanks to online streaming, and video on demand.
@legaltowter98112 жыл бұрын
Tf is syndication?
@stapuft2 жыл бұрын
@@legaltowter9811 it was the ultimate end goal of most tv channels, to make a show that can last long enough to get syndication, it means, that your show is liked by enough people that other channels are willing to pay your channel, for the privlidge of airing your content on their channel, in random timeslots in order to fill out time, until "prime time", the usual thing was 52 episodes, (some were more, few were less) one episode for each week of the year, but again, channels would put these shows on any time they wanted, in any order they wanted, so, back in the day, when shows were only aired once, and then lost forever, you had to hope and prey that if you missed an episode, that it would make it to syndication, and also that you had access to the channel that syndicated it, so that then you had the random crapshoot chance, of being able to see that episode you missed......be happy you dont have to deal with that...

Nowadays, I think an animated Cap series would probably work best on streaming, especially if they wanted to set it during World War II. Maybe aim it a little older (more like Young Justice, less like Harley Quinn). Though for it to make it through (much less past) Season One, they'd need to hit so many note correctly, since they wouldn't be reliant on toy sales.

@thomasdeja5232 жыл бұрын
I think I have another little piece to the 'Why Cap never got his 90's cartoon' puzzle. I worked as one of the writers for the Byron Preiss Marvel Prose program in the 90's, and contributed stories to THE ULTIMATE HULK and X-MEN LEGENDS. Originally, the next collection in the series, according to my editor at the time, Steve Roman, was THE ULTIMATE CAPTAIN AMERICA, which was to tie in with a potential new Tom Tanaranowicz cartoon they were prepping for Fox.... However, at the time when the Cap cartoon was proposed, Marvel was still owned by Ron Perlman--and Ron made it VERY clear that he did not want Marvel comics to 'glorify' certain subjects including Nazism. I had already begun outlining my story for THE ULTIMATE CAPTAIN AMERICA, an Invaders story (I LOVE Golden Age comics and was looking forward to writing a period piece) when I was told Perlman put a halt to the project. We shrugged, went onto the next title in the program (FIVE DECADES OF THE X-MEN) and shelved those stories. Later on, Marvel merged with Toy Biz...by that time, the 'Marvel Animated Universe' was dying out--as was the Byron Preiss Marvel Prose program--and I was instructed to work my Cap/Invaders idea into something for their next collection, FIVE DECADES OF THE AVENGERS...only that didn't happen. I hope you find this nugget useful.

The problem that a lot of stations would have had, especially back in the 4Kids and coddle cartoon 90s was that you can't really have a Captain America story that's not actually...ABOUT something. As most people keep trying to push the lie that MARVEL was literally nothing until Disney "saved" them. It's like there is no way they missed the MCAU and its awesomeness. Too bad this series never happened, since Steve has the potential for animated show, full of “g.i joe style” action and adventure. In fact, I even made a pitch of what could have been this animated show. So, to quote the Watcher, let’s ponder the question... "What if Captain America TAS was made?" Season 1: As the creators said, it would take place in the 40’s showing Steve Rogers origin, his relationship with his allies (Bucky, Peggy Carter and the Howling Commandos) and his first battles against villains such as Viper, Baron Von Strucker and, of course Red Skull (the final episode would have Cap stopping Skull from taking over England and their big showdown would happen in the Big Bang). Season 2: There would be crossovers between Cap and other Golden age heroes (ex: the invaders Union Jack, Red Guardian). He would fight against new villains like Arnim Zola, U-Man, Lady Lotus and Baron Blood (much like Spider man TAS version of Morbius, his name would change to Baron Plasmus). This season would also have adaptation of the “Cosmic cube arc” with Captain America preventing the Red Skull from destroying five cities around the word to power up the cube, which would give the villain god like powers. In the end the Red Skull would be seemly disappear and be taking out of the show for the moment (much like Green Goblin in Spider Man TAS). Season 3: It would introduce Baron Zemo as he takes the Red Skull place as the new leader of Hydra and becomes Steve’s recurring enemy through the season, which would all lead to the final episode where Zemo activates the Sleepers, giant robots that he sends to destroy the USA. Captain America and Bucky are able to destroy them, but Bucky disappears in the Sleepers explosion (due to censorship we can’t have characters being killed). Season 4: After the first 3 episodes focusing on Captain America dealing with the lost of Bucky while working alongside the Six American Warriors (from Spider Man TAS), the series would have a massive shake up and change in the status quo: After a battle against Hydra in a flying fortress, Cap fell into the ocean and was frozen for years until wake up in the modern days... in a world ruled by Hydra and he is the Supreme Leader of the villains. Confused, Steve would eventually finds out what’s going on: While he was fronzen, Red Skull return, using the small energy of cosmic cube to change himself into Cap and steal his identity, allowing the villain to infiltrate the goverment, eliminate Cap’s allies and slowly take over America, turning it into new Reich. So now Steve would have to team up with the resistence, which would include Sharon Carter (Peggy’s niece) and the Falcon, and together they would have to find a way to defeat the Captain Skull and his followers, including Bucky, who was brainwash and turn into Hydra assassin (much like Spider man TAS finale "foreshadowed" Spiderverse, this season would basically foreshadow many of Captain America future stories like Winter Soldier and Secret Empire ). In the end, Captain America and his allies, would be able to free Bucky from Red Skull control and, in turn, he would help Steve steal the cosmic cube and use it’s power to return to the past, stopping the Red Skull’s plan, forcing him to retreat. The series ends with Captain America reunite with his allies, saying that he will continue to fight for this world, and that he is now much more optimistic about the future they will create. The final scene would showcase the new future Captain America created, showing Sharon and Falcon alongside other Marvel heroes, all inspired by Captain America and his heroism.

Cap should have come out at the same time that Hulk came out. I always thought it was weird that The Hulk came out "alone." Everyone else had a "pair". X-Men (1992) paired with Spider-Man (1994). F4 and Iron Man debuted together as the "Marvel Action Hour" in 1994/95. And then, the following year, The Incredible Hulk came out by itself. Then, the next year, everything ended all at once! Silver Surfer wasn't like the rest and didn't belong. Avengers: United They Stand was a desperate attempt to replicate the X-Men, but also budget and with no compelling stories or struggles. So once X-Men and Spider-Man ended, everything else just....wasn't it.

Funny enough, the animation in those later X-men episodes that so many people didn't like was actually better and smoother than what people had become used to. It's practically identical to the animation for season 2 of Iron Man and Fantastic Four yet as much people love those two shows second seasons, they seem to hate the look of those X-men episodes.
@pious832 жыл бұрын
@@popeye697 Towards about the third season, the animation of X-Men picked up significantly. To watch the opening storyline - Out of the past - you can see how smooth it is. Just in comparison to the previous final episodes of season two. The issue many had with the latter "season five", in comparison it looked cheap. Some character models were very wonky EG Magneto, Gambit and Jean Grey. It wasn't just the animation. The colouring was off. It messed up the continuity of the show even more than it already was. For example, Cannonball makes his first appearance. Although he already appeared and looked very different earlier in the show. So no, it wasn't an improvement. In context to the rest of the show. It worked for Iron Man and FF. Because that was an upgrade on their first season animation. Even then, some like Human Torch, still looked and moved strangely.
