I think the most interesting aspect of this unmade film, is that it would’ve been the 2nd time a human in the Toy Story universe would discover the toys being alive and sentient (the first being Sid from the first film). Still the actual Toy Story 3 that eventually got released, was good enough for me and kinda book ended the entire arc for Woody, Buzz, and the gang. That’s why I never even thought about checking out the 4th installment.

I think the underlying issue with the period after the Disney renaissance was they were trying to make films like Dreamworks (for the preteen and teen demographic) while under the Disney name. Kids who grew up during the Disney renaissance were aging out of Disney demographic and didn't want to be associated with the mostly G rated namesake (while parents didn't see the new films as kid friendly). Pixar provided that "new brand" for the teens who didn't want to be associated with kids movies while also provided content that kids could also enjoy.

I don't think the Circle Seven version of Toy Story 3 would have been successful considering as described in the video Andy's toys would have acted out of character. It seems jarring to hear Woody and the other toys would have jumped Buzz and shipped him to the factory against his will. Also having the conflict resolved in a big battle also strayed away from the other two movies, which although featuring adventurous situations they did their best in avoiding violence as a resolution to the conflicts.

Like the thematic observation you did of the franchise at the end. What makes each Toy Story sequel so special compared to other animated franchises is how each one explores children’s relationships with toys and pushes the characters forward. The Circle 7 animation Toy Story 3 sounds like a fun adventure, but it doesn’t really do anything to evolve the characters or explore anything significant about our relationship with toys. Here’s hoping Toy Story 5 continues the trend and isn’t just some silly side adventure.

Not only is it needlessly cruel and completely out of character for Woody and friends, to send a toy somewhere where he will be tortured (if that wasn't the case, why send him to Sid's house?) but it also ignores the ending of the first movie and implies Sid didn't learn his lesson and is still torturing toys.

Whereas Pete was bitter that he and Wild West themed toys got replaced by science fiction "space toys" like Buzz Lightyear, Dax would've been the new toy that everyone wanted, and he'd be eager to push Buzz out of the spotlight. That, and the factory creator knowing that the toys were alive would've been a cool touch.

Maybe since the last time buzz and woody were there sid didn't change & in this universe sid is still torturing toys or something. In Pixar yes it makes sense they taught him lesson don't beat up or break your toys, this isn't Toy Story 3's Pixar. This is circle 7's Toy Story 3. This is their universe outside of Pixar's & things may have altered if Toy Story may have written differently if Pixar didn't make it & circle 7 did in an altered universe format. So Sid is possibly still a bad guy in circle 7's format while Pixar's format Sid is scared helpless without hind clue his toys are alive. Pixar knows circle 7's Toy Story 3 doesn't make any sense. And that's why it never happened. Now that toy story 5 is in production they're taking old notes from toy story 3 by circle 7's playbook & reusing them for The next movie. Guess can't let those armies of buzz lightyears go to waste can you Pixar? No no. Not today. Edit.

Personally, I would have loved to see these films get made. But I'm glad that Pixar was able to take back control of their films. Speaking about Pixar, can you do a What Could Have Been video about their canceled film "Newt"? It was about a male and a female blue-footed newt who were forced together by science to save their endangered species, but they both didn't like each other. It got canceled because its plot was too similar to Blue Sky Studios' animated film "Rio" (2011). Its production got replaced with Inside Out (2015).

I would love to see you do a video on how the Shrek franchise would’ve been like if Chris Farley lived.

Gotta say, if the start from Circle 7s story was used with the better story elements from your actual version it woulda been a great movie

1:01 Important to note is that the executive at Disney Animation intentionally caused Treasure Planet to flop at the box office to spite Jeff Katzenberg, who had been eager to make the movie for almost a decade He was promised the movie could be made once he completed involvement with any additional movies they wanted him to do until eventually allowing him to move ahead His treatment was so bad (especially after realizing they would allow the creation of Treasure Planet, but said nothing about marketing it fairly), he left Disney and created DreamWorks

I’ve always wanted to see this version of the movie for years when I first heard of it, even if it was just like an hour long special on ABC

While I am glad that we got the proper Pixar version of Toy Story 3, the planned Circle 7 version always fascinated me as a curiosity item. It's one of those films that if I could transport into an alternate universe a la Sliders, I would want to go to an alternate universe where Pixar and Disney went their separate ways and Circle 7 got to release their version, just to watch it out of blind and possibly morbid curiosity. For me, Circle 7 Toy Story 3 is up there with Tim Burton's Superman Lives and Colin Trevorrow's Star Wars Episode IX: The Duel of the Fates (that would have properly followed up The Last Jedi) as alternate versions of films/cancelled films that I would like to visit the alternate universe where they actually got made and came out.

Also for a future video, I would like to see a What Could Have Been, David S.Goyer’s original draft for the 2008 film Jumper, that was some what pretty close to the original novel by Steven Gould.

This sounds like a Toy Story 2.5 considering this was during a time where Andy was still a kid.

I wonder if they're trying to go for some of these lost ideas for toy story 5. It seems to me, (based on what we heard and seen from leaks so far) that they're trying to revive some of these ideas for the upcoming movie.

Do you have any plans to do the original plans for transformers dark of the moon and the franchise going forward after that?
