Agreed. The old clips were at least good to bring people attention to the insightful contents that JP had but it was obviously titled and edited by various sources of younger (most like males) who wanted views. This is excellent content here

I used to roll my eyes and groan when JBP would take something like a Simpsons episode or Disney movie apart and ascribe true/deeper meaning to it. "There's no way J.K. Rowling was actually trying to convey any of this. What nonsense." What escaped me for way longer than I should admit, (and JBP was probably precise about this somewhere and I missed it), is the truly astounding idea is that so many different people across time and cultures are subconsciously influenced by, subconsciously recreate, and ARE DRAWN TO the baser ideas that JBP is talking about. One could make the argument that, even though the referenced stories are not deliberately influenced by ancient myths and spiritual conflict, they would *not* be wildly successful if people were not predisposed at a deep subconscious level to appreciate and seek them out.

Interesting! Love this series of clips being uploading. It goes without saying the depth of vision and understanding within you into things both seen and unseen is unparalleled. How much farther could one go with God… I’m going to play with this and recalibrate it into a structure that might better represent Christian thought as opposed to psychological/philosophical thought. Some birds are probably going to catch fire~ I’ll arrange these concepts so I can better understand your pov; hopefully I heard and understood them correctly: 1.The Phoenix is the element of self that is constant/remains intact across multiple transformations = Jungian SELF 2.According to Jung, Christ was the symbol of the Self. (This was a result of decades of meditation on Christianity - I’ll add not prayer to God, not actual Biblical text, but as I understand it, the history of Christianity - what humans and the church have done. These are all different things to me.) The reason Jung thought this is because it is the dying and resurrecting part of the psyche that remains across all the transformations. 3.The ultimate in order is to sacrifice parts of the self and allow the process of the Phoenix to continue. What saves us from evil is our capacity to let things go, and to die, and come back to life. 7:19 Let me not be passively dramatic here…this thought stabs me in multiple and various ways I cannot understand… You can see the echoes of Christian thought in [the Phoenix and the Wizard]. But that’s not exactly right, it’s that Christian thought and the mythological substructure of HP are drawing from the same underlying pool of ideas and symbols that are universally accessible. Now, your hand gestures here showed that you put HP and Christian thought at the same level across from one another at the top of an inverted pyramid with ‘ideas and symbols’ at the bottom, as if ideas and symbols are forming the foundational structure of mythological books and the whole of Christianity or Christian thought.. Am I right about this? Maybe you were only teaching a particular set of ideas in this clip and this was a portion, or structure, contained within a larger structure - but that was not eluded to. If I am correct in my understanding, this would be incorrect for a foundation suitable for a born again Christian. It doesn’t mean it’s incorrect for psychology, philosophy or any other worldly system of thought. But this is Biblically insufficient. It will collapse. We are going to need the Phoenix here: Everything, every philosophy/structure/system that has ever been formed, every thought, every great idea that was ever dreamed up, all find their origin in Christ. He is first, He is the beginning, through Him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made. John 1.3 Christ is the cornerstone by which the whole of the structure is planned and set within its bounds. Without Him, the Cornerstone, the structure is skewed and will collapse. All things must tie back into the Word, to Christ, He has to be placed at the bottom, then symbols and ideas, then Christian thought, then HP, for example. Now Christ also is the head of the Body of Christ. Interconnectedness. Congruent. In essence, He is all-in-all. “Christ is also the head of the church, which is his body. He is the beginning, supreme over all who rise from the dead. So He is first in everything.” Colossians 1.18 He is the first fruits of those who will rise again. Okay, the first ever Phoenix. And I just realized a group of phoenix birds is called an odyssey, interesting…….moving on….. One cannot build a spiritual structure of God using any books written by man. Scrap that idea. It would turn the structure inverse, and it will collapse. Man does not define God. He does not tell God who He is. God defines Himself by His Word, which is Himself. ‘In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God.’ I Am that I Am.’ This is the Sword turning upon itself, able to interpret Himself and hold total meaning within Himself. What you create as a human being cannot turn back towards you and define you, or create you for that matter - it is an incorrect order of being. It is impossible. One scripture that hints at this is “Shall what is formed say to Him who formed it, ‘Why did You make me like this?’” Romans 9.20 Off topic, this is why idolatry is sinful, we are creating a god and putting it ‘over us’ in authority which is incorrect and out of order. It displaces God and worships the created creature. Will explore this more on another video with the ‘self’ as Rafiki, the mandrill, the Phoenix (death of old self), and Jung’s idea of what the self is after I think about it for awhile in relation to God the Father, Son, Holy Spirit, the born again child (Christian), and crucifixion of the old self. Spirit, soul, body triune, how does this all fit? This feat will possibly shred my mind into colorful ribbons of dancing smoke - hopefully a phoenix will rise out of it~

There's a real benefit to such older lectures from his actual classroom, when Peterson is focused within his area of expertise and expands out from there to the immediately connected horizons. He also doesn't speak here with that performer's rhetoric that intends to capture the masses without any intellectual focus, like a ray of light that gets dulled by the fog of too many particles. There is less detail these days, just the power of rhetoric and it becomes a kind of performance art. Here he enjoyed teaching, but he was more concretely connected to the ideas in which he we hear.
