I like these type of vids because it does one thing. Gives, honest, real life workings of normal people, doing a normal business and shows the shitty attitude that the British public has towards, not just car dealers but the whole service industry. Normal down to earth people, trying to do real normal work. We can all see it isn't a shitty back street garage, sales place on a main road. The setup, the money put into it show you are genuinely trying to be on the same footing as main dealers. In fact, the fact that this is a family run one, and not a cooperate run must sell 60 units a month dealer. Means you are probably getting better work, and more care towards a car that anyone could buy. I've had dealings with main dealers and some of the communication and shoddy work is shocking! Well done guys, all hard working, genuine blokes. Wish you the greatest success.

General principle is to focus on your core business and the skills/people to grow it. Your focus looks to be car sales and as a small business do you really want a team fixing and MOTing cars when you could contract that. If you really think you want MOT/servicing business, have someone else focus on that.
@peterstanford97209 ай бұрын
Your absolute integrity shines through. Your customers are so lucky. The problem is that to those people who don't have access to a second car, when they have an issue it's a catastrophe. The car has probably taken up most of their available funds; then being late for work and losing pay (could someone explain this concept to Jordan ? sorry, only kidding !!) school run, elderly parents etc, sadly the stress comes through in their panic and aggressive attitude. Not excusing such behavior and I know you know all this. Certainly clearing the workshop backlog and creating some slack will give you a massive breather when inevitable issues do arise and take the pressure off you and the team. Maybe nominate your senior technician to handle warranty in the first instance, freeing you up to do what you do best....... Sorry, not telling you your job, but now I've typed this I shall leave it here.

Just wanted to say that I use a local mechanic that uses a separate garage to do MOTs. He charges an extra £30 for his time taking cars to the test centre and I think it’s well worth it. If it fails on something small it’s sorted the same day where as you’d have to take it back for a retest etc. I don’t understand people’s mindsets wanting something for nothing. I watch your weekly’s every Sunday night and it’s a real insight into the industry- I’d always quite fancied running a small sales/garage but not so sure now 😂 fair play to you though, chin up and all be well I’m sure 💪🏻🙌🏻

Love the content, as we get to see the every day of running a car dealership. Also looking forward to the collab with Chops Garage. Maybe stop doing MOT's for the short term, then long term, once you have a unit or a bigger space you can then have 3 or 4 bays just on Mot's, and 3 bays for mechanical work. You will be fine, be positive always. People nowadays have no patience, no people skills, and just want to blame other people for whatever is going wrong in their lives. You have always been honest with these videos. Keep up the good work. Hope Toby moved okay

I get round this MOT fee malarkey by charging £38 for a pre MOT check. 90% of customers opt for this. Advantage being they get a clean MOT as I've got to know over the years what my tester looks for, so we carry out any work before the test. If the list is too big at least they get pre warning and have a bit more time to decide what to do whether to go ahead or scrap or sell for parts ⚠️

I understand we all need to make a living and I know employing humans is hard work. For my own experience, car dealers have alway tried to rip me off and even LR Warranties are not honoured even though the words say otherwise.. Barrett’s of Ashford put my ACE bar through but a year later, not my wishbones.They said ‘ we have put too many through and they are knocking them back’. FYI- LRwarantee was £1200 a year…. So not small . To use your phrase- ‘Not my problem’. Still, 10 years on the L320 is still fulfilling its £30k point sale price- it seemed a lot of cash that long ago….Maybe I expect too much.

It seems most mechanics are going through the same scenario as you. Mechanics should be doing really well but there is something going wrong with all all of them. One thing I have noticed is they all don't have enough ramps to work on. One needs double the amount one thinks they need because you must now realise that getting parts is not that easy. Japan started it with their just in time business which is great until wars begin and now part making has to move to other countries. You strip the vehicle down on the ramp and then can't get the new part so one has a dilemma. Plenty of ramps then you leave it till the part appears. If you need the ramp then one puts it back together and moves off the ramp to store it somewhere which ends up being double work for same money. 🤔🤔
